Very well.

Blissey / Serene grace / leftovers
Ice beam
Seismic toss
softboiled
aromatherapy

Skarmory / sturdy / leftovers
roar
spikes
drill peck
toxic/substitute/rest/protect (pick 1)

Use those two together properly EV trained and he dosn't really stand a chance.

If you really want to see him cry, add in a wobbufett with encore instead of safeguard for good measure.

Now, let's go into (slightly) less cheap territory:

Starmie / natural cure / leftovers
Surf/Psychic
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Recover

You could swap one of those moves for rapid spin or thunder wave, but the standard will do you just fine, train it for speed and you're golden.

Milotic / marvel scale / leftovers
Surf
ice beam
refresh
recover

A favourite of mine, I use one in my own team. While it isn't indestructable, properly trained it's a very nasty tank stopped only by blissey / lapras / starmie.

Anyway, let's try and give a little variety to you.

Venusaur / whatever power it comes with, i forget / leftovers
sludge bomb
synthesis
leech seed
sleep powder

Challenger 2 tank disguised as a pokemon.

ninetails / flash fire / leftovers
flamethrower
will o wisp
pick and choose for the remaining two moves:
confuse ray
protect
safeguard
hypnosis
overheat (if you must)

Try and get a decent second (non fire) attack on it though. If you REALLY want a fire type, this is the way to go.

Ninjask / speed boost / liechi berry (leftovers if not in Vs)
Silver wind
Substitute
Swords dance
Baton pass

Send this out first, substitute, if he kills it then keep substituting untill you're down to a few HP (except in a sandstorm, obviously) and then baton pass out to whatever you like, if the substitute is not killed then keep using swords dance untill it is. This is vunerable only to:

Roar
Whirlwind
Haze
Snatch

If he dosn't have any of those 4 moves, he's already lost the game. For bonus points, also raise the next pokemon and baton pass to it, reducing his choices to counter it to just two. Up to you

Cradily / suction cups / leftovers
toxic/rock slide/earthquake (pick one)
barrier
amnesia
rest

Want to know what true suffering looks like? Baton pass Ninjask to Cradily, use 3 barriers and amnesias, rest up (if needed), then watch the face of your opponent in the battle from that point on.

Want more movesets? Any specific type of thing you're looking for?

Yes, but we're in LeafGreen here.[/quote]

In my book, FireRed and LeafGreen don't exist.
We have Red and Blue. We have Gold and Silver. We have Ruby and Sapphire.
We have that seemingly mandatory third game for each generation.

Why, exactly, do we need a remake?
The "catch 'em all" mentality is another thing that screws up pokemon. The games should try and make a huge world, with seemingly endless critters to discover. It should not be the most complex grocery list in existence.

Two reasons, both you probably don't care about.
First, because Ruby/Saphire can't talk to Gold/Silver/Red/Blue, the pointless task of possessing all pokemon was accidently made impossible.
Second, you could play your red/blue again, but this time with colour and without ramming illicit rare candy down your pokemon's throats.

1. After having programmed all the pokemon into Ruby/Sapphire, I think they could have taken a little more time and put all the pokemon in R/S. Better yet, they could have used all the time and effort for a remake on a new game, even without adding new pokemon. I think it was a cop out on their part.
2. I prefered the pokemon art of Red and Blue to the bland and cookie-cutter look of new games. Anyway, I also loved how buggy the original games were. It made the Pokemon world seem to go beyond the little box that they try and keep you in. Who cares if people cheated with rare candies? Since most people had no idea about the stats points you earn through fighting, they would wind up with pokemon far inferior to those of people who had actually taken the time to raise their pokemon.

To the OP:

Your team seems specifficly designed to fight your friend. There isn't anything wrong with that, but if you went up against another opponent you didn't know anything about beforehand you might be in for a hard time.

I have Diamond version, and in Diamond and Pearl, special attacks and regular attacks are no longer determined by type, but by the attacks themselves. Because of this change in determining special attack and regular attack, pokemon like Sneasel, who don't have very high special attack, can now use moves of their own type much more effectively. Also, it may interest you to know that Sneasel evolves now.

My team consists of this:

Empoleon lv. 68
-Surf
-Flash Cannon
-Brine
-Drill Peck

Charizard lv. 61
-Dragon Pulse
-Fly
-Heat Wave
-Focus Blast

Drapion lv. 58
-Poison Fang
-Toxic Spikes
-Ice Fang
-Crunch

Gallade lv. 62
-Drain Punch
-Double Team
-Psycho Cut
-Night Slash

Garchomp lv. 59
-Dragon rush
-Sandstorm
-Fire Fang
-Dig

Rotom lv. 60
-Shockwave
-Confuse Ray
-Ominous Wind
-Thunderbolt

yeah... ty for the comments... ill try for the amnesia + ice beam thing... what should i get for my sneasel? Im thinking shadow ball instead of faint attack, and maybe crush claw instead of quick attack?

for dragon, i have a level 51 dragonair that knows blizzard, double edge, dragon rage and shock wave.

grass is a tough one... would an exeggutor work? its psychic type means i can drop slowbro and it adds diversity to the group.

any more thoughts?

-[initializing]. . .

Yeah Shadow Ball might work, maybe try Brick Break as well?

For your Dragonair, If it's for special moves I go for: Dragon Claw (when it evolves into 'Nite anyway), Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Surf. All accurate and powerful.

I don't have much experience with Exeggutor but I think it's attack power is good, you could give that a try.

I like Sceptile for Grass, but you might not have access to one... It depends if you want strong & fast but low defenses, strong and slow but good defenses.

I'll post my team if it'll give you any ideas:

Blaziken (Kuma), lv67
Flamethrower
Brick Break
Bulk Up
Overheat

Jolteon lv 61
Thunderbolt
Hidden Power (Ice I think)
Thunder Wave
Thunder

(You can't do much else with Jolteon)

Suicune lv 55 (a beast :p)
Surf
Ice Beam
Calm Mind
Rain Dance

Sceptile lv 60
Leaf Blade
False Swipe
Screech
Hidden Power (Dragon ?)

(A work in progress)

Dragonite lv 60
Dragon Claw
Surf
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam

Alakazam lv 58
Psychic
Calm Mind
Teleport
Recover

Good Water types are: Starmie: Surf, Ice Beam, Psychic, Thunderbolt.
Suicune: Surf, Ice Beam, Calm Mind, Rain Dance/Hidden Power Electric.
Good Grass types: Shiftry: Giga Drain, Faint Attack, Extrasensory, Fake Out.
Venusaur: Giga Drain, Leech Seed, Toxic, Frenzy Plant.

I tend to favour fast and strong as you can probably see, plus I'm not a big fan of Physical moves.

I Hope that helps. :p

toxic
softboiled
aromatherapy

Heracross / salac berry / swarm / adamant
rock slide
endure
reversal

Gardevoir / leftovers / trace / modest
thunderbolt
psychic
rest
calm mind

Celebi / leftovers / natural cure / bold

(Fear the Celebi!)

Currently got a metagross, wheezing, skarmory and tyranitar in the works too, amongst other stuff.

I also have around 40 Suicunes of every nature and IV index under the sun, but not got anything planned for them yet.

I think I physically cringed at that one.

Anyway, go get yourself a Tyranitar, it will be well worth making sure you get the correct nature on it though if you do this.

Tyranitar / leftovers or a chestro berry / adamant nature
Rock Slide
Earthquake
Dragon Dance
Rest (or Taunt instead)
(My personal reccomendation.)

Tyranitar / leftovers / quiet nature
ice beam (or crunch)
thunderbolt
substitute
focus punch (or rock slide instead)
(Not bad, not bad at all.)

Tyranitar / leftovers / adamant nature
rock slide
focus punch
thunder wave
substitute
(Worth a look.)

Alternativley, pick 4 of the following, give it an appropriate nature (Probally adamant or modest or something similar) and stick a leftovers on it and you have a winner.

Rock slide
Crunch
Dragon dance
Brick break
Earthquake
Fire blast (or flamethrower instead)
Focus punch
Ice beam
Protect
Rest
Surf
Thunderbolt
Toxic
Curse
Counter
Substitute
Thunder wave

You can if you like, but it's just 50 power (if memory serves me) and isn't STABed. I personaly wouldn't consider it unless it was STABed and used with a pokemon that has a phenominally high attack stat such as Metagross (which learns meteor mash anyway, which is more suited.)

Though I don't know if you're even taking any notice of my advice <.<

Oh dear, a Pokemon thread. Anyone who has been here for any amount of time knows that I am a Pokemon Master (certified).

Here is one of my favorite teams (Diamond).

(Starter):
Ninjask @Leftovers
T: Speed Boost
-Swords Dance
-Double Team
-Substitute
-Baton Pass

Blissey @Leftovers
T: Natural Cure
-Ice Beam
-Seismic Toss
-Softboiled
-Aromatherapy

Skarmory @Leftovers
T:Keen Eye
-Spikes
-Roost
-Whirlwind
-Drill Peck

Breloom @Focus Sash
T: Poison Heal
-Spore
-Focus Punch
-Mach Punch
-Stone Edge

Dragonite @Choice Band
T: Inner Focus
-Thunder Punch
-Roost
-Fire Punch
-Outrage

Gengar @Leftovers
T:Levitate
-Curse
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Sludge Bomb

With this setup I start the fight off with Substitute, use Swords Dance a few times (and Double Team if I'm feeling like a dick, although most serious players get pissed about evasion moves) and Baton Pass to Dragonite. At that point, the battle is, more or less, over. If I think Dragonite may be in trouble I'll swap to Blissey/Skarmory, depending on the situation. Breloom is there as my Focus Puncher and Gengar is there to deal with any pesky Skarmorys I may encounter.

Nice, Glad to meet somebody of similar calibur. I could do with updating myself to D/P but am busy with university, I'll do it once Platinum hits the shelves in England though.

I'm curious about one or two things though.

@ Dragonite, is choiceband / roost all that useful? I mean, okay yeah it would bring you down to 2x with ice keeping you from an instant KO, though I wouldn't like to meet an EQ TTar or gross or something similar meanwhile. Wouldn't Ice punch be preferable for use on rock / grounds? Eh, I'd have to see.

@ Breloom, Interesting. I assume that you send out Skarm first and spike up, to discourage your opponent from switching when one of the most obvious combination in history (Spore + focus punch) is in the inital stages? Hmmmm.

@ Gar, That looks like a pretty odd moveset, Does it really have much (if any) use outside of Tbolting Skarms in the face? Mind you, If I had a Skarm out there and you sent in a Gar the move I'd primarily expect is Tbolt and switch to Bliss or something. (Even if I wasn't flying around what ammounts to a target range for lighting attacks, I'd still expect it.)

@ Jask, heh, been mulling over raising one for a long time, but didn't want to be "cheap". The double team is grounds for a punch in the face in my book, but hey. Incidentally, If I knew that's what you were about to send out for poke 1, I'd totaly try to counter you by sending out:

UMBREON @ Leftovers
Synchronize

- Mean Look
- Toxic
- Snatch
- Moonlight

Synch your speed boost, then snatch away. Would probably need some working, I'm a bit rusty. Havn't competitivley battled in a year or so now. (Woops, disregard what I said. I just realised I confused Trace and Synch. Still, Trace would be nasty. Your thoughts?)

But yeah, It's a pretty solid team. I try to avoid using Skarmabliss (I'm not adverse to just one a match) if I can help it though, or other OUs etc.

STAB is Same Type Attack Bonus, for example if Blastoise uses Surf it gets an attack bonus because it's a water type and the attack is water, it's 1.5x the damage.

Ummm, route 9 I think.

Just go to the daycare center on Sevii island 4 and breed larvitars until you get the nature you want. Bonus points if it is a female tyranitar / purpitar / larvitar and you breed it with a compatible male pokemon that has rest already (don't use up any TMs to teach the male pokemon rest). If you do, it will pass on rest to the newly hatched larvitar for you, saving you a TM.

I would suggest a male Snorlax, since those are compatible and learn rest natrually. If you don't have a male snorlax or female tyranitar / purpitar / larvitar, just breed them until you do, then level up the snorlax until it learns rest, then breed the two. Saves your TM 44 for something else.

Since you didn't know what STAB meant before, I'll just mention that different natures raise / lower different stats. Adamant lowers special attack by 10% and raises attack by 10%. Modest lowers attack by 10% and raises special attack by 10%. Timid lowers attack by 10% and raises speed by 10%, etc.

Ah, in regards breeding rest onto tyranitar, I just remembered I had unfortunatley forgotten that dragon dance can ONLY be bred onto it, which makes things complicated for you.

1:
Catch a male horsea and level it up to level 50 (without evolving it).

2:
Once it learns dragon dance, breed it with a female Charmander, Charmeleon or Charizard.

3:
Take a resulting male offspring (which should have dragon dance) and breed it with a female Larvitar, Purpitar or Tyranitar.

4: Keep breeding it until you have a male Adamant Larvitar, freshly hatched. Teach it rest, level it up until it learns rock slide and earthquake. This will let you breed it with any female Larvitar (etc), and the resulting offspring will start off with dragon dance, rest, earthquake and rock slide, even at level 5 newly hatched.

Forgive me for any dated info. I play Chrs.

Tyranatar:
Crunch
ThunderBolt
RockSlide
EarthQuake

The Advantage of this moveset is that you will never get "Its not very effective"
You also might want to try what I call the irritateing tatic and get ether crobat or shuckle.

Crobat:
Fly
Mean Look
Confuse Ray
Toxic

Basicly, MeanLook then ConfuseRay then Toxic Then Fly Can be difficult to set up but very rewarding.

Shuckle:
Toxic
Wrap
Sandstorm
Swagger

Again make sure they cant switch with wrap then toxic and sandstorm and swagger. you dont need to worry about them attacking you. shuckles defense awesome.

Pre-pearl / diamond (dunno about after), ice / electric prevents you from ever having a "not very effective" attacks to almost everything in the game, since there are almost no Steel / electric, ice / electric or fire / electric types in the game.

Plus it only takes up 2 moveslots.
