Poll: 12hr vs. 24hr

Makes more sense to use 24 hours so I go with that one.

24 hour format for appointments and alike. Vocally I do tend to use the 12 hour format but as stated above, it's badass to go: dinner at eighteenhundred sharp.

12 Hour is better in my opinion although it does need to have the PM and AM notices.. It makes time reading easier for me but 24 hour clocks are just as easy, a simple subtraction of 12 in the evening and afternoon times..

I prefer 24. It avoids the confusion between 12 PM (noon) and 12 AM (midnight). The transition of 11 AM > 12 PM > 1 PM and 11 PM > 12 AM > 1 AM doesn't come natural to me.

24 hour is cooler, but I'm far more used to 12 hour, so I use that one the most.

24 is more practical, sure. But my mind is stuck on 12 hour. Whenever someone says "14:00 hours" I still have to translate it to "2:00 pm" before it makes any sense to me.

12 hours is best for me. When I get off work, I like thinking "Oh it's only 11" instead of "Oh it's already 2300"

It's more helpful in 24 hours if people aren't saying am/pm...

And with army there's more than one of every hour in a day, so you might as well have it known (fun fact: did you know that there's no 0000 or 2400 in the army, only 0001 and 2359).

Twelve. 24 for alarms. Why? Because my alarm is on twelve hours, and differentiates between AM and PM, but not visibly. So say it's set to 7 AM now. Turn it around once and it's 7 PM, but I have to remember that. And it switches randomly every once in a while, for good measure, so I never have any idea.


...Basically, twelve, and I hate my alarm clock.

I use 24hr whenever possible, as it more clearly represents the actual time of day... and telling someone to meet you somewhere at 2300 is more effective than just saying 11 and hoping they know you mean pm... rather than having to state it... also makes it harder... alot harder to accidentally set your alarm clock in the wrong 12 hour period and be late for work because of it... so yeah 24hr is win.

I say times in 12-hour format, but I work entirely within my own head using 24-hour format.

Same for me.

If you ask em the time I will give it to you in 12hr format.
But all watches and written times are in 24hr format.

And we all know 2hr time is the superior format.

Most people that grow up with the 24hr system will give the time in 12hr format as standard.

I have never heard anyone speak time in 14hr format, that would be weird.

I prefer 12 hour, just because it seems more 'standard' in natural conversation, but I've got no problem with 24 hour time. The ratio of 12 hour clocks to 24 hour clocks in this house is pretty much 1:1.

I tend to go with 24hr, but it doesn't really bother me.
I know people who it does bother though.

Earth has 24 hour day, so obviously 24h is the right one.
