Correction: Some are pedophiles. Most (99%) are not, and (like Doughnut mentioned) many help to abolish such images and help punish those who are.

And what's wrong with rule 34? Its not a good thing, granted, but definitely doesn't fall into the "bad" category. Some people are into it, some aren't. That's neutral territory right there, my friend. Just like all branches of pornography are(aside from the extreme ones, IE beastiality and rape).

Trolled 2 or more cat haters/torturers
Struck fear into the hearts of would-be camwhores who think they're top shit
Stopped a (possible) terrorist from shooting up a school
Caught a pedophile and reported him
May be sending JB to North Korea

Bad things 4chan has done:

Blackified WoW by creating hundreds of black characters and making them all dance at (I think) the human starting area
Blackified Habbo Hotel
Trolled youtube with pronz multiple times (some are rumored to be by ebaums)
Mass uploaded flashing images to an epilepsy forum

ah my friend thats where you are wrong, fred was trolled, /b/ found a code to remove all his subscribers, it actually worked as well which was scary but then youtube fixed it all and banned all the users who used the code, i may have been on /b/ at the time and heard about it

What they're doing is wrong in my opinion, I don't find 4chan to be useful at all. By harassing a person is just plain mean, by tracking that cat-hating woman(yes, she doesn't get any sympathy from me anyway) and starts harassing her, is not necessary..

They've done worse then blackifying Habbo, seeing as that was a reaction to rascist admin. They can't even do that anymore, because as soon as a black guy in a suit shows up, he gets insta-banned.

They are very volatile and not very predictable. On one side they love CP and "Rule 34" material but they also seem to be very aggressive towards abusive persons when they feel like it. One example comes to mind where a user admitted to having a paedophillic attraction towards a young girl known to him (a niece or something) and said he wanted to take things further and asked 4Chan on how to go about it. 4Chan responded by using the photo of her he had posted to track down the school she went to (using the uniform she was wearing and I think a school mascot that was in the pic) they sent the pic of her along with a screen of the thread to the school principal. All within about 5 posts of the OP. Now thats some hardcore paedophile busting.

In short they can completely tear bad people apart IF they feel like it. They can also do the same to someone good if they just dont like them that much.
