Technocracy all the way. I'm so sick of these politicians who promise so much, yet wind up comlete and utter failures.
Eliminate the *feeling* aspect from the government, since they have almost done that already, and put a scientist at the head of the chain.

Sorry buddy I didn't know you had a hard on for the guy.
I don't, it's just you offer no proof to why he's an asshole. I don't care for Obama, though I would just say "I don't care for Obama" instead of outright calling him an asshole.
He's black.
And that's enough reason to hate him?
Belive me man I was just kidding. In all reality I don't like anybody in government.

If there was a reduction in government i could see that eventually there might be a disolution of the actual US and that there might be more public controlled policies which would be a bad thing.
Wouldn't that help? "Government for the people, by the people..." and all that?
"Freedom" and "Liberty" are only rhetoric, not political realities. It makes me very low.

I like what Obama's doing so far... but then again I'm a liberal and think he's not liberal enough. I feel that there are simply certain industries that ought to be nationalized and certain industries that shouldn't. Healthcare for example, should be nationalized, while journalism should be kept private.
It really bothers me how people are so willing to throw around the word socialism to describe anything where the government gets involved. I've been called a socialist many times for having these views, but most countries in Europe do this exact same thing (and it sure works for them!) so unless youre willing to call most countries in Europe socialist, you don't really have a leg to stand on.

Anyone else agree? Disagree?

Congress is the largest collection of unhanged criminals in the world.
The govt does exactly what democracy designed it to do. That is to give the majority of people what they want and tell them what they want to hear. It just so happens that what the majority of people want is the opposite of what they need. E.G higher taxes to curb inflation.

I'm not so happy with the way the governments been handling things, it seems like we can't go a day without some defamation of civil rights, lack of economic understanding and the like.

So, I call for total Anarchy! (With myself as dictator of course)
There is something wrong with that statement.
But being dictator is fun.....
Except in an anarchy there is no dictator for there are no rules. It is complete lawlessness.

Our government needs to listen to us more. If 90% of Americans say the war in Iraq is a bad idea than I think that majority rules.

If people don't understand the issue then it will just make things worse. There are a lot people out there that i wouldn't want to vote directly on anything that had to do with my life. If you vote for a poltician you probably are not going to get a perfect package your going to get most of what you want but not everything that goes for everyone. So nobody can be completely pleased, especially with a two party system that is more the case.

To everybody that says they hate how polticians run this country run for office or vote and do something about it.(not really pointed at you AvauntVanguard unless that is your position)

Actually, I'd say that poverty is the biggest obstacle. Government's got nothing on that.

Hey, I'm 20. I vote so... I do my part. But my part isn't good enough for the suits in Washington apparently.

It's too small, obviously - and I'm not a socialist saying that. It needs public or two-tier medicare and tort reform, not to mention a slew of legislation in the business sector to ensure a similar economic collapse doesn't occur. The cutting of "pork-barrel" spending would help in achieving these goals, too.

Of course, whether this would increase its overall size - since alot of the current government ownership of the GDP includes temporary assets purchased by Bush and, recently, Obama - is unclear.

Our government was never intended to be a democracy, it has become one through perversion. Of course, I mean to distinguish democracy from republic. It is admirable that you are willing to sacrifice for your perception of the public good, but many feel that reducing spending is much more important than any taxation policy.

In any case, our government does not do anything near what it was designed to do. It is blatantly and demonstrably illegal.

I would respond that the government itself worsens poverty by creating an underclass with no social mobility and burdening citizens with its war, waste, and restrictions. And in any case, I would choose free and poor if that was what it took.

I don't want healthcare to be socialized because I already have healthcare and socializing it would in turn make me pay more. Call me selfish, but I think country first, myself and family second, and fellow citizens a distant third. If healthcare is to be socialized, then socialize it for actual citizens.

Also, journalism is out of control, so much bias. It's nothing like it was decades ago. Their job is to report, not offer their opinions and leave info out.
