I know they are generally considered Carnivores due to a high meat diet, but I love dogs and own two, and I know for a fact they love bread. Which we know for a fact comes from wheat and yeast, the yeast is what they actually like, give your dog some beer and watch them go to town. I've read that young wolves when they are being winged will sometimes eat wild berries, and I know dogs will eat berries thrughout most of their life.

So I leave the question to you, are they carnivores due to them eating mostly meat?
Or are they Omnivores because they eat some plant based foods?

Carnivores.

Why else would they consantly have nothing but meat in their dog food?

Omnivores, but they need to eat meat. I don't think they can survive on grain alone (and still be strong).

True, I argee, but in the same sense are humans really that strong on plants alone ethier? I mean, I know it can be done, but there is a lot of health risks.

They're naturally carnivores, but will eat most things if necessary. Domesticated dogs are more omnivorous, but that's not natural.

That's one unique way to look at it, Born Carnivores, but raised omnivores... I think you may have won the thread.

They prefer being carnivores, but they are capable of being omnivores, though they are healthier being the former. I'd say they are preferential carnivores. That said they are living creatures and naturally have their individual preferences.

Biologically speaking, they are carnivores. Just look at the teeth, designed to rip and cut flesh.
Also, their digestion tract isn't long enough to properly handle plant tissue. They might eat it, but anything harder than berries won't digest.
That's why cows have intestines 21 times as long as themselves. Most carnivores have intestines 3 times their own length.

According to the pet food bags I've seen dogs can survive on cat food because they're omnivorous but cat's can't survive on dog food because they're carnivorous and need specific proteins that are in meat. But that could be wrong.

Hate to break it to you- but just because they are carnivores dosent mean that they cannot or do not eat things other than meat. They are carnivores, it's not really up for debate.

Might as well have another poll: Are Wolves mamals? Yes/No?

[edit]

ah, I stand corrected....

wikipedia said:
Despite its descent from wolves, the domestic dog is an omnivore,[2] though it is classified in the order Carnivora. Unlike an obligate carnivore, such as a member of the cat family with its shorter small intestine, a dog is neither dependent on meat-specific protein nor a very high level of protein in order to fulfill its basic dietary requirements. Dogs are able to healthily digest a variety of foods, including vegetables and grains, and can consume a large proportion of these in their diet. In the wild, canines often eat available plants and fruits.

Ever seen the consequences of a dog eating grass?

Yeah, carnivores.
I know that grass is bad for them, but grass is not the only type of plant, for instance, Ravens are Omnivores, but do you see them eating grass? I thought not.

They are omnivores by definition but meat is a huge part of their diet (it is vital to their wellbeing and health).

Ultimately it shouldn't matter, an animal will eat what it wants to eat whether it's a plant, an animal or space midgets (I don't think a dog is bothered by the ethics of it's meals).

Scavengers, but almost positive they are carnivores
how in gods name are the scavengers? I'm not saying that they wouldn't eat a dead deer they found lying around but wolves do their own hunting.
