Nerf them, Power them up, or eliminate them?

From my experience with BC2, I've noticed the tremendous amounts of recon-tards running around with their completely OP'd snipers. Or, they would be OP'd if it weren't for the fact that only two snipers in the game ensure a one-hit kill, and one of them requires the "Magnum Ammo" per- "Specialization" to gain that ability. That being said, there's no crosshair bob, or "wave", as some people call it and that can seriously help with headshots, which are always a one shot kill.
But most snipers are bolt action, forcing you to reload the next shot to fire again. Does this make balance?

I ask you, veterans of the battlefield, what is your opinion of the BC2 "Recon" class?

Snipers can't win a war. As deadly as they can be at long range, other classes are much better at actually rushing and holding objectives (which can be much more important than getting kills).

I can't stand snipers in any game, they annoy the hell out of me.
Pretty much this, thing is with these battlefield games you have to be a recon since there's no such thing as a 'sniper.' Just a guy with a rifle.

Sitting miles away out of the battle, picking off people without them eveb having the chance to fight back does make them naturally OP, if they're good.

in my opinion the snipers are fine the way they are. Of course, they never bother me, always being in/repairing behind a vehicle.

I say meh because I usually play as recon and don't feel that I need to be nerfed or powered up because people usually try to go out of their way to kill me after I get like 5 kills in a row.

Snipers annoy me more when they're on -my- team than the enemies. There's plenty of places to hide and smoke grenades to allow you to get close to snipers. When they're on your team, however, they just sit in the background contributing nothing whatsoever to the team, not taking objectives, not pushing forward, not doing anything except offing the occasional bad guy, and if the sniper is playing attack on rush, that is truly worthless, given the defense team gets infinite respawns. The recon class I'm fine with. It bugs me when half my team rolls it, and I just want people to play -all- of the class, especially those bits with C4 mortars and sensor orbs. Not just the long ranged rifle bit, eh?

I don't really have an opinion on them. I'm not much of a sniper myself, but they've never really bothered me.

I don't see a reason to power them up or nerf them. They can be a great asset to the team if used properly. For example, the reason class can do more than just snipe and annoy people from a distance. Whenever I play as one I use the SVU with the 4x scope and stay behind my squad or teammates, picking off enemies that are trying to flank them, and throwing the motion sensors at choke points. If a vehicle shows up, I rush towards it, cover it with C4, and take myself with it if necessary. I find this setup contributes much more to the team than the people sitting in the back of the map killing a guy every now and then.

I hardly ever get killed by snipers I always catch them sneaking to their spot. They miss their first shot and i know exactly where they are. I can't really get into bad company 2 multiplayer at all, I've been desensitized by anything except CoD or Resistance.

The sniper rifles are in no way OP, except for in hardcore. The only way to one shot kill somebody in normal mode is via a headshot, and that's fairly difficult. The only real exception is the M95 with magnum ammo, but that's still only a one hit kill within 40 meters.

When used properly, even on offense, recons can seriously fuck your team up. You ever tried disarming an MCOM while a few snipers rain mortars and bullets down on you? It's not easy.

They're boring, I like to occasionally play BF2 and, seeing as my mates have traded it in, I'm forced to join randomers, and a lot of them are Recon. I wouldn't mind, only the majority of these players sit next to our base and don't mark the enemies because they want the kill, disgusting pricks.

As for balance, I'd say their fine. The ability to see where they are when you die makes them less of a threat though.

play hardcore and its a one hit kill all the time. I snipe in that game and while frustrating at times its much better than the sniping in MW2.

I find that they still take skill--like you said, most aren't a 1 hit kill, and you also have to take bullet drop into account at range. As much as it's true that there's no shaking/bobbing, it still takes a bit of practice and skill to line up a solid headshot. I think that the rifles themselves are fine min terms of power/accuracy.

The main problem with all the people sniping is that nobody actually bothers to go secure the objectives, so you end up with two teams picking each other off from long range--which is only a good tactic for one of the two teams. A message to attacker teams worldwide: you can't all be snipers, at least one of you has to man up and sprint for the MCOM/flag cap point.
