I thought it would be interesting to see what Escapist members thought are some of the best (if not the best period) vampire movies of all time. Obviously 'Vampire' movies span several genres from Drama to Horror to Romantic Comedy so it's difficult to determine an objective 'best', but I thought it would be interesting nonetheless.

This poll will have a lot of 'other' I'm sure, so please specify what you think if you choose that option! Just keep in mind to qualify as a 'vampire' movie (to me at least) it must have human beings that feed on the blood of people and can't go out during the day for some reason.

Personally I prefer Interview with the Vampire. To me its the only Vampire movie that really tackled the Vampire mythos in an intellectual way. Most other vampire movies that I've seen focus on horror, sex, or gore.

From Dusk Til Dawn is my favorite Vampire movie.
Failing that, I'll choose the Christopher Lee Dracula.

I liked Shadow of the vampire or whatever that Willem Dafoe one was called.
Blade was fun too.

I voted, "The fact that you included Twilight makes me want to hunt you down and hurt you" but I feel like that should constitute as answering with the "other" option so I'll specify the vampire movie I like most. The first Blade movie. All the other ones are pretty terrible, but I love the first one.

You included The Twilight Saga but not The Blade Trilogy?... You better watch your back.

Nah kidding :p

My favourite Vampire Films would be The Blade Trilogy out of the three of them probably Blade: Trinity just because Ryan Reynolds is hilarious in it. Or possibly Underworld.

Only "vampire" movie I've ever really seen has been Van Helsing. Seen clips from the Blade movies and that Underworld series, but never actually watched them. Never taken a huge interest in such films, so I can't really say much on the genre... although, like any sane person, I can agree that whatever the hell those things in Twilight are, they sure aren't "vampires".

Never really got into vampire movies personally, but I felt I should comment because the fact that you included Twilight makes me want to hurt you

Interview with the Vampire is one of the only ones I've seen. It was definitely better than Twilight, that's for sure.

I like underworld, the girls decent, the actions beast, and it's almost as gory as Gears of War.

Let the Right One In. I kind of liked Near Dark too. And Twilight is not about vampires, it's about fairies. Fairies who sparkle in the sunlight.

The fact that Twilight is on the list and Let the Right One In isn't offends me. Because Let the Right One In is the ultimate vampire movie and pretty much the greatest movie ever.

I don't see Nosferatu here. Neither the Murnau version nor the Herzog version. This compels me to be thoroughly displeased in various ways.

Seriously, Murnau's version is a classic German Expressionist film, and Herzog really knows how to film a scene. Both are top-notch in my book.

THE best one was definitely Daybreakers... failing that though... I guess you could do a lot worse than Interview with the Vampire or... if you want something hilarious... Shadow of the Vampire is the way to go.
