Burnout... the game of the year edition is pretty cheap and its massive.

Hot Pursuit is not bad, just not nearly that good...

Both are made by Criterion and are very similar. NFS has real world cars (around 50 so far, DLC practically guaranteed) whereas Burnout has made up cars. You get a lot more for less with Burnout as it's been around for so long, but having both myself, I would actually lean slightly towards NFS.

Depends how you feel about the other games in the respective series, IMO.

If you liked the previous Burnout games, get either.

If you liked the previous NFS games, don't bother getting Hot Pursuit, because Criterion turned it into a Burnout clone with infuriating rubber-band AI (that the series had only just managed to get rid of before Criterion came along), zero car customisation options and more blatant than ever advertising.

Definitely Burnout, its tons of fun and has plenty of room for both serious racing and just messing around ramming other cars. Need for Speed on the other hand is pretty damn boring. There are of course some great Need for Speed games like Underground or Underground 2 but the Burnout games blow them all out of the water.

As someone who hates racing games, Burnout for sure. I had a fucking blast with that one.

Get Burnout and all the old NFS games that were good, Hot Pursuit is probably the 5th remake of the title and in true EA fashion it's all the same game.
