Admittedly I'm a little bitter about this, but I want more opinions.

My girlfriend and I for over a year and a half broke up a few months ago, but her and I were still hooking up and my friends knew it. Just the other day, my best friend of a few years tells me they've been hooking up for weeks now and are dating. I'm a pretty upset about it, but they both tell me that it shouldn't bother me, or that it should only bother me for a day or two.

Am I over-reacting? I'm not looking for advice, I'm more curious to see what the generally consensus is on dating an ex's best friend (or dating a best friend's ex, however you choose to see it).

Well, the man code dictates that before dating a friend's ex, you are required to ask permission first, and he is required to give it.

I'd say no. It hurts those little things called feelings when you see your ex, the person you used to love (and maybe still do), going out with your best friend.

Especially if it works out a lot better than your relationship did. So no.

It depends on how long they waited before hooking up. It would have been nice if your friend asked how you'd feel about it before going out with her as well but, that's just my opinion. Give it time and you'll get over it.

Anyone*, and I say anyone* is fair game, at least in my book. Hell, if I had a chance I would go with my bf's mother, so yeah...

I would say, hell yes!

Ahh mildly confusing but your post explains it. Well honestly, neither of them are your friends. Shes a dirty beeotch & hes a manky bar steward.

One does not stir someone-elses porridge.

Id kick the shit out my friend and discredit her I recommend nudes on 4 chan.

Its not the friend oging out with her thats just a bit odd, the crossed streams is a blatant her getting to you & him doing you over.
This is what I mean.

Oooof...dating a best friend's ex?...usually not the best of ideas in any sense. Relationships are meant to 'work' right? These things...usually don't 'work'. Imagine during their next fight...haha, how much of a cluster**** it's going to be.

I'm not really sure, I've never been in a relationship to see it from either side.
I'm guessing it'd be kinda sad to see your buddy and your ex together, but as long as they weren't doing it just to be spiteful, it'd be generally okay.

^This. Bro Code article 150: No sex with your Bro's ex. Unforgivable, but understandable. I've had a similar thing happen to me, and I know how it feels.

Loves is greater than friendship, but they both should have been honest with you from the get go.

Just get back at them by hooking up with your Best Friends Best Friend, or your Ex's Ex... got that wrong, your Best Friends Ex, or your Ex's Best Friend.

Should it bother you? Ideally no, it shouldn't bother you and you should be bigger than that.
Is it wrong for it to bother you? Hell no. Your ex-girl is being boned by your friend. It's absolutely natural for you to feel what you feel.

There you go. Conundrums suck, don't they? It's up to you to decide whatever you want.

Sums it up quite nicely.
In my book this is forbidden country, but then again, I usually feel the need to assault my ex's new "flame" in a dark alley armed with a baseball bat.
