Poll: Deus Ex or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

I currently have some money on me and I am interested in buying one of these games. They both look fantastic and I've heard good things about both of them, but I can't decide which to get. So what do you think?

Note:I'm referring to the original Deus Ex game

They're both really good games. Deus Ex is, for me, the definitive FPSRPG. The graphics haven't aged too well but the gameplay is still unsurpassed. STALKER is very atmospheric and extremely unforgiving - when you come out on top after a gun battle with multiple opponents in that game you really feel you've achieved something.

I recommend both, but if I had to pick one I'd say Deus Ex.

I'd say STALKER SoC. It's got a bunch of mods for it, and has good replay value with them, plus it's just an all around fun game.

I voted for STALKER, but I'd actually like to change that vote. Both are great games, but with the new Deus Ex coming out soon, I'd recommend picking up the original.

I only voted S.T.A.L.K.E.R because I have played it, too young to have played deus ex without pirating it, and the only game store that I have seen it at closed down . But Stalkers atmosphere is superb, it beats out Fallout 3 for "most bleak in atmosphere" by a big margin.

People do, however I will warn you, complain about its terrible weapon damage, as well as other frustrations, but I recommend that before you play it with mods, play through at least once (some people say a few times, but I don't think its neccesary) in vanilla.

If you're going to mod, take STALKER, and use the 2009 Complete mod. Otherwise, take Deus Ex.

Get Deus Ex. It still does things that games since haven't done. It's always worth getting your hands on games like that.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R., without a doubt. SoC is a great game, especially with mods. CoP was a huge improvement over SoC, and then has mods of its own to boast. Clear Sky was pretty bad IMO, not as good as SoC and CoP. But pick up those two at least and you won't regret it.

With Complete 2009 and some of the other mods, it will provide a lot more life than Dues Ex in my opinion.

They both great games. I assume by now patches and mods have may Stalker more stable.

Deus Ex definitely made me think more, and about the future. And I remember it better as a result. It's an intelligent game, if that makes any sense.

Deux Ex has much more (and better) story and dialogue. However, it's much older than Stalker.

Stalker is dark, creepy, and more about realism *when it comes to gameplay mechanics* It's pretty hard compared to most FPS games. Pretty light on story. I do suggest looking for some mods, I remember a few of them really made the game more fun but I don't recall their names.

Deus Ex, because nothing says stealth like shooting someone with a tranquilizer dart then watching them run around alerting everyone to your presence.

Deus Ex has painful shooting mechanics, and awful AI. Great setting,though, with multiple ways to go about many of the missions.

I could never get into Deus Ex, it hasn't aged very well. STALKER on the other hand is a tremdous game, amazing atmosphere and combat and. Its replay value is massive with the A-life system and huge selection mods that change the entire game.

If you can handle the old graphics and poor voice acting I'd pick up Deus Ex first just because it was one of the single most influential titles of our time.
However STALKER has become a personal favorite of mine because of the rich environment and the kick in the pant attitude of its difficulty curve.
Both are awesome.
