In assassin's creed (duh, what other game with an animus could I be talking about?) there are those scenes where you get to move and walk outside of the animus, hear about what is going on in the FUTURE after learning how it was impacted by the past by altair and I thought it was much more interesting to hear about how (SPOILER ALERT!) the Templars still exhist and that they are hunting the assassins trying to rescue you (END SPOILER!) than it was hearing about altair's actual story. Didn't anybody else enjoy the moments outside the animus in the mysterious abstergo laboratories? I played assassins creed 2 and it had much less such exciting interruptions between animus sequences where some interesting shit was going down. Then I hear it was cut because nobody liked the moments outside the animus. What gives? Why didn't people like them?

No, I thought they were boring, the plot wasn't good enough to justify designated exposition sequences, and it takes the piss to be lifted out of the action just when you're getting into it.

In the first game, kind of, because it actually furthered the story a little bit. In the second game, which I actually liked a lot better, I hated the parts outside the animus, spending time with those weird people was just annoying.

In AC the bits outside the animus were okay, but they were bullsh*t in AC2

Well, I didn't hate them. But I don't exactly play Assassins Creed so I can play as a guy who pretty much just talks about philosophy to his friends. I liked the warehouse training in AC2, though.

...Come to think of it, Assassins Creed is sounding pretty good right about now.

The out of the Animus scenes were the only reason I played the game, I thought the gameplay was reeeeaaally boring but it was very interesting to go around outside the Animus, probably because that was where the real main story was.

I liked it in AC2 - there were much fewer "out-of-animus" moments, and later in the game you get to try out some of the cool acrobatics and stuff that bled forward from your ancestor(s).

AC1 was just awful. You were yanked out at the end of every sequence to plod slowly around a handful of tiny rooms (no running in the halls!) with no one interesting to talk to or much to interact with.

I wonder how the third one will go. Presumably there will be some "present-day" combat, but don't they have guns in the future?

I didn't find the outside the animus moments to be awful I just preferred to stab people in Damascus.

I really love Assassins Creed's story and like that the setting is in the future...
But, oh my god, was I getting angry when they pulled me out of the animus in Assassins Creed.

Assassins Creed 2 was better in that aspect, since they did give you stuff to do while being outside the animus, but still not good enough to keep me going!

As opposed to Desmond? The beigest man on the personality spectrum? I still don't understand the popularity of Nolan North.

And as others have said, it's the whole, "Fuck yeah, that guy got destroyed! Now to kill some mo - hey!"
"Hello Mr. Miles. I'm about to reiterate why I'm better than you once again."

I enjoyed the pseudo-conspiracy plots, but only when I was actually in the worlds of Altair and Ezio (especially the pseudo-conspiracy stuff in "The Truth" - yeah it's clichéd, but I think it's fun). Once in Desmond's world, I really didn't care. Hopefully they'll find a way to perk up the modern scene without having to give Desmond an assault rifle.

I loved the outside bits in AC1. I completed Altair's parts as quickly as possible because I wanted to spend a little bit more time in the future. I looked forward to learning more about what was going on but they never really revealed much.

AC2 wasn't as fun outside the animus and I actually much preferred Ezio's storyline and the characters in it. The British guy, who was a real ***** to Desmond, really irritated me. He just seemed needlessly irritable. Why are Brits always portrayed this way? What have we done so wrong?
