I was wondering while doing a paper for novels and tales, and drinking a cold mtn. Dew. How many call it pop soda or something else.

"Soda" or "Pop", depending on what I feel like calling it at the moment.

"That Devil Drink That The Young'ns Are Drinking"
Usually just soda, really.
Sometimes pop.

I rarely, if ever, use umbrella terms for soft drinks. I'll always refer to it by the name/brand, "Imma go get a Dr. Pepper", "I want some Irn Bru", sorta thing. Failing that just a simple "I need a drink".

we don't have Mnt Dew in the UK :(
We do! But only in small amounts :(
I found once but it was Arabic or something, not sure if it would be any different to the US stuff but it was sweet as all hell. I love sugar as much as the next guy but by the time I was halfway down the bottle it was like drinking pure syrup.

You mean soft drinks? That's what we Aussie's call carbonated beverages. Though if you mean Mountain Dew, we call it Mountain Dew.
