Not really to be honest. As important as music is to me in a game I rarely find anything worth looking into.

Less Portal references would be nice, if you please. We all love the game, it's not like you'll get any new converts.

Music is very important to me in games. It's not that I only play games that have a decent soundtrack, but music can be a very large part of the enjoyment of a game. I often try to get the soundtrack of any game I like.

Yes. Music is important to me in video games.

If the music is annoying, it'll ruin the entire experience.

If the music is good however, it may make the experience even better.

I even have a few game soundtracks on my computer.

A lousy soundtrack can break the immersion fact in an RPG. Music can also add a lot to the experience (like that ahhhh shit moment when you're trying to stealth in downtown DC, the music changes, and you know a super mutant is about to fuck up your day).

I sorta care mainly when the songs are good ie Shadow of the Colossus and Neir. those are memorable songs that i think about outside the game. As for when in combat then music is awesome to have.

game soundtracks are very influential to the experience. if there's anything i hate as far as soundtracks are concerned, it's third person shooters with 30-second, generic rock or techno loops. quite unimaginitive.

i have several OSTs from games and that's if i love everything from final credit songs down to silly little noises that occur. Okami OST, for example-- 256 tracks, and i love em' all.

Of course!! They're a damn important part of a game. They set the atmosphere.

Compare silent movies, to movies of today.

Yes,a decent soundtrack definitely enhances the experience.

But siriusly, why the Portal references? Unless you've done that thing from a certain xkcd comic, which I can't be bothered to find in order to demonstrate my point.

Might I ask where I can find the Okami OST? That game has one of my most favourite soundtracks Ever.

Yes. If the soundtrack is boring, the rest of the game must make up for it. If the soundtrack is good enough, it'll for 2 hours make up for of exposition: This pretty much excuses 2 hours of nothing. Or the NMH OST. That's what made NMH so awesome. Can't go wrong with a song title like that.

Normally, no. But I was very excited to hear that William Elliott Whitmore was doing a song for the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack.

Oh yes, very much so. A great soundtrack can make an bad/average game more playable. Or lack of good music can ruin games. Think of that last boss fight in Assassin's Creed II, awful. Ok so the music was probably low on the list of 'why that boss fight was pathetic' but still.

My iPod hasn't much else on it aside from movie/game/TV scores and soundtracks.

Yes, music really helps largely to a game and helps make a game unique and to create atmosphere. I regularly listen to game soundtracks whilst on the computer from different games, however i won't not play a game just because its soundtrack isn't good.

The soundtrack is very important, but not a deal breaker. Every so often, a truly excellent game soundtrack comes around (MGS2/3, World of Goo, LittleBigPlanet, BioShock) and I'll end up listening to it more times than actually playing the game. But a mediocre soundtrack never bothers me, it just doesn't add anything to the experience.

Well I don't only play games with good soundtracks, but a good soundtrack has the potential to turn a good game into a great one for me. Heck, over half the music on my computer is game music, ranging from Halo to Crash Bandicoot to Chrono Trigger. Good stuff.

If its a game I've been looking forward to for a while my expectations tend to be high of the music score in the game, and usually, it pulls through. However if I'm just buying a game I like the look of I take no real interest in it.

Music is an important part of games, but gameplay will always come first.
