I have been playing the LoZ games since I became a gamer, in fact the first game I ever played on a console was actually LoZ: Link to the Past (at around age 5). There's always been something about the console versions that I find a bit haunting and depressing, although this is not the case for the hand-held versions which, to me, come off as cartoony. So my question is do you find that the console versions, have a depressing undertone to them?

Man, I was totally gonna say no, but I completely forgot about Majora's mask somehow...
That game was pretty damn depressing, now that I think of it.

But yeah, other than that I've never found any of them to be particularly depressing, however I will admit that the console versions were definitely less cheerful than that handhelds.

Twilight Princess' ending depressed me, my favorite character in the series is separated from my favorite NEW character in the series, without any concrete evidence that they will see each other again. Adventures should not end on that kind of a note!

Now that I think of it......they were all fairly depressing at one point or another. Especially Majora's Mask, but also Twilight Princess.

The Deku tree in Ocarina of Time was, sort of... And the fact that most of those citizens in Hyrule that you helped and talked to as a child were now reanimated corpses that you had to slay.

Wind waker. A large, empty, worthless ocean... Bleh. The lack of taking what potential it had is the most depressing, though the story was depressing too.

They are pretty depressing to me, mainly because of the endings that never seem to go beyond bittersweet.

Heh, nah, they are pleasant games. Plus, the dialogue is usually so terrible that they are hard to take seriously. I can only think of 3 games in total that I could seriously call "depressing" due to their very special design that inspired extremely gloomy feelings on the player, those being Homeworld, Demon's Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, all of which belong in my top 10.

Now that I think about it... The ending for majora's mask, Oot and twilight princess are quite depressing...

I feel sad now, I need some system to cheer me up.

Yeah, that games a bit of a downer.

Although all the games are so immersive you feel sad when they end.
Indeed. I nearly cried at the end of Twilight Princess, mostly because I never wanted to leave their world, but the ending didn't help either.
