Most of us have played Half-Life 2, but not a lot of people seem to like Alyx Vance.

I happen to like Alyx and enjoy her company in the game. My question to you is, why do you like or dislike Alyx Vance?

She's a fun character and works well, sure.

And why did you use a Yugioh Card as a picture? You couldn't have found something better?

I will, I just thought it was silly.

I don't know why others don't like her. I, for one, find her tasty and comforting.

Six star card with only 2100 attack power and a moderately useless effect?

Wow, I guess you really don't like her that much.

She was okay. Not the pinnacle of female sidekicks some people make her out to be. Just okay.

She is the worst sidekick in gaming history. She's annoying, and fairly useless gameplay wise.

Well I like Alyx Vance, not only because she shares my name (Spare that pointless Y) but in the ranks of female game characters she's not some stupid bimbo or some testosterone-fuelled action man with tits but she's intelligent, emotional and able to hold her own.

She is okay. I am not fan of her mainly because she blocks me from enjoying more game. But seriously the whole father daughter thing annoyed the living hell out of me. In fact the Vance's were the only two characters I really disliked in HL2.

She served a purpose, but I never had any use for her. She's fairly invisible and not important gameplaywise, as was mentioned before.

I've never played the Half-Life games. Everyone I see here either sings her praises as the best thing to happen to female game representatives ever, or the most worthless, overrated character in the history of ever.

Based on all that information, I suspect I'd probably like her. I mean, come on...I was never a fan of Navi until the sheer level of hate on the internet aimed at her made me reevaluate her (and find the hate unwarranted).

she was (just as every half life sidekick/henchman) always standing in my way ("sorry Gordon") so no, i'm not so very fond of her :p

I really liked her actually, she was human, which was the best part, so it let you connect with her.

Also, do you mean the expansions as in Episodes? Because they're just HL3.
Or do you mean ones like Lost Coast etc?

Gameplay-wise she never got into my way and that's exactly what I like, just let me play my game.

Character-wise she's quite solid; good personality, likeable, not your average bimbo but a proper female character for once, not some two-dimensional "tits on a stick" kinda girl.

Nope, she's not, simply because she doesn't die and or make you rescue her every 2 seconds. Unlike, apparently, Sheva from RE5. Alyx might not offer much, but she doesn't interrupt you either.

Plus her aim is quite good.

Alyx is a great back up/love interest in Half Life, it gives the game that little something more that most games miss, a personality. You can almost feel the tension between Gordon and Alyx at some points in the game.

Here hoping Gordon gets to tap that in episode 3/half life 3

OR

Alyx hits on Gordon and Gordon says (in some super, 60s-70s black-guy-with-an-afro-secret-agent-movie voice) "Sorry Alyx, but I prefer Barney."

She's funny, her personality is real and three dimensional, she's not a mindless big-busted bimbo like in many other games, and she's a good sidekick.
If Gordon Freeman could talk, he'll have a good time interacting with Alyx.
