All depends on the situation.

At 5 in the morning, on the third day of drinking, I'd prefer something a bit... fruitier.

On a summer's afternoon, with the sun beating down and Of Montreal playing, few things beat a nice cold beer.
That, except with some good ol' fashioned metal playing on a low volume.
It's relaxing.

Very close poll. I don't like the taste of beer cause I don't drink it that much. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Well the beer family is very large, stouts and ciders are all considered beer, so yes I do like the taste of beer, Bulmers(a cider) and Guinness(a stout) are two of my favorite drinks, so of course I enjoy the taste.

But the most common types of beer, like Heineken and Budweiser beers(I call them lagers, but I am sure I am sure some consider me wrong) are decent tasting at best. I don't drink them in large quantities, but I do like them. Just not my first choice by any means, mostly because they are so gassy, drinking more than 3 or 4 just has me completely full of gas, whereas that is not the case with cider.

Odds are, if you dislike the taste of beer, you just aren't trying enough beers, sticking with the big beer brands is a bad idea, especially if you aren't wild on the taste. Drinking one Bud and deciding you don't like the taste of beer is like playing Wii Sports and disliking it and saying you dislike games.

I've never liked it, I either drink cider or Jägermeister. Beer was always 'the big thing' before 18, and only now I've started hearing people say they don't like it.

I like most magic hat beers, but as for LOVING the taste of beer, nah. My preferred alchaholic beverage is a nicely aged merlot.

Beer is simply there to get you drunk. It's not like wine, with many distinctive flavours and characteristics dictated by who makes it and the price of the bottle. The exception to this is the freshly brewed stuff you buy at the brewery itself. The beer at the Augustinier Brewery in Austria is absolutely incredible. The taste is sensational. But you'll never find it outside of the brewery, let alone outside of Austria. The beer alone is the reason why i love Austria.

Aside from that, i am very much a whiskey man. A lot of my friends say that they find whiskey too strong or don't like the taste or the smell of it. I always drink my whiskey neat - i can't see the point of dulling the flavour with coke or some similar substance.
Gralian:

You have developed a fine sense of taste and smell for wine, which does not come easily. It is a skill and a difficult one at that. But you make the mistake of assuming beer is simple and not as complex as wine. It too requires fine skill to recognize and distinguish the different tastes and scents. Whiskey is equally complex.

So with your experience and skill with both wine & whiskey, you can not be so naive and make assumptions about beer. You may not enjoy the flavour, much like your friends don't enjoy your refined tastes in whiskey, but it does have "distinctive flavours and characteristics". ;)

I love the taste of beer. I usually drink microbrewed or imported cause the mass-produced american beer just doesn't taste good. the best beer is Guinness or Asahi

I'm 20.

It depends on what I've been doing all day.
If I've been sitting around the house doing absolutely nothin', just give me a soft drink.

If I've just finished mowing the lawn on a cool evening, I find nothing more refreshing than sitting on my back porch absorbing the flavor of a cheap beer while I watch the sunset.

What is "like"? It is bitter, I don't like bitter, but when it's hot, and you're sitting in the shade, and THEN you take a sip, it's awesome...

But then again, the same can be said of a soda when it's hot, and you're sitting... etc, etc...

I don't "LOVE" it, I like it occasionally. I'm more of a whiskey kind of man.

Love beer in most of it's forms (except the sweet ones, cherry beer or something like that)Only downside to it is the excessive amount of times I have to pee, when drinking it.
Although being Dutch, and having easy acces to all good beers from Holland, Belgium and Germany, I like some American beers too, like Flying Dog, Yuengling.

Depends on beer and what moment(during a meal, with friends, during physical labor,...).

Although some beers I really don't like(cara pils and Heineken), I will stil drink a little to socialise with others.

The same couldn't be said with wine.

With wine is difficult to predict if it is good or bad(and I have at times drank really bad wines).

If it is bad, I can't drink it.

With bad beer only in the beginning it wil taste bad but after a while you get used to it.

But beer is like coffee, for most people it is an acquired taste.

P.S.: before someone start to defend cara pils and Heineken, I just said I didn't like the taste and not that they are bad.

P.S.S.: sorry for the GREAT WALL OF TEXT.
