Nintendo has often been knocked for not using High Definition visuals. People have often suggested that Nintendo should launch an entirely new console with HD capabilities in order to have any sort of chance in the technology race. Do you really want a WiiHD, though?

I'd like Nintendo to go into HD, but I think launching a new console so soon would be absolutely stupid. They'd be abandoning the 'casual' market they've built up so much, and I'd have to go out and buy another console. What I'd like to see them do, personally, is to instead produce (and I know that I'm going to start a slew of 'Nintendo does nothing but release peripherals! Blah Blah Blah!' remarks, but I really think this is the better idea) a seperate GPU and CPU that can be plugged into your Wii that allows for HD output (with the proper cable support, of course) by overriding the default one already present in the console. I have no idea how the Wii's hardware was built, so this could be impossible. But I think that this would be the best method if Nintendo wants to enter the HD front.

It doesn't have to be HD, but at least have next gen visuals. As in; not have many games looking like they were made in flash, actualy since LoZ TP, looked so good, why can't other wii games?

Anyway i suppose if they did HD there would be more Hardcore games. =]

Speaking as one of the many people who don't care about HD, I say "why bother." Wii is a casual gaming console. Do you really need to have "Wii sports" in H! D!?

Do the little web-based games you play in your spare time need to be 3D-rendered, and require a DX10+ capable graphics card and Pixel Shader model 2.0? No! They're casual games. They don't need to be as pretty as the immersive masterpieces that get great reviews.

It would be nice...But im thinking they dont need it. I mean...Look at Twilight Princess! That was a bloody BRILLIANT looking game, and the other nintendo staples like Mario Galaxy and MP3 all looked great. It's only the standard set by all the shovelware on the console that drags it down. I've completely defused arguments about the graphics like this by showing the other person the aformentioned better games.

I think that this question comes with the pre-supposition that I want a Wii at all.
Which I don't.
So I voted 'no'.

However, if I were in the market for one (I.E. My wife wanted one), then I would want an HD model.
I have a large HD TV, and I want products that compliment it.

I don't want an HDWii ... I want Nintendo to release an HD compatable console that doesn't rely on motion control *continues to kick, scream and cry*

If I remember correctly, I read somewhere that upscaling previous Wii games (Smash Bros., for instance) to HD is impossible due to the coding of the discs and the structure of the Wii itself.

I don't really see how a WiiHD could be a huge improvement over the original. Yes, you'd get a little more room to stretch a game's graphical capabilities, but other than that, would it really make that much of a difference in the games themselves? Would Brawl and Galaxy be loads more fun to play if they were in 1080p? Not really would be my guess.

Besides, I doubt such a thing will ever happen, at least not for a long while. One of the reasons the Wii wasn't originally in HD was so game development costs could remain relatively low, so developers wouldn't be as intimidated by the motion controls. Also, Nintendo themselves stated that they won't bother with more powerful technology until it more widespread. HDTV's, as they currently stand, are still in a small percentage of households, and for a system as massively popular as the Wii, it'd be silly to try to force the masses into upgrading to HDTV's so soon.

i dont really care.
it would be cool but, i could really care less about HD.
the only thing nintendo needs to do right now is keep the great games coming!(and release a new better Star Fox.)

This is what they should have been doing, give a big middle finger to those pansies and start putting out awesome games like the ones the N64 and GC had.

Anyways I don't really care, if they did I wouldn't actualyl go and buy it, don't care about having awesome graphics on the Wii that's what PC 360 and PS3 is for.

no, I don't even want a regular wii, why would I want one that is more expensive, and with slightly better looking games?
(read the "slightly" as "a lot")

i dont play the regular now, it's mostly for my woman and when people are over, I certainly wouldn't pay more for a HD version until the games step up and the controls are improved.

Yes, because completely abandoning 60% of your profit margin makes perfect economic sense.

I was talking in a "sympathy for the devoted gamers" kind of way, I know they would never do that due to common sense but it's somethign most of us former Nintendo gamers wish they would do.

I have basicly stoped playing my wii because they are only making games for one generation theres no more fps or zelda like the nintendo 64 had. If Nintendo remade games from the N64 like Golden eye with better graphics, online play, and also made gamertags like xbox and ps3 have so you would be able to tell when your friends are online instead of calling them or messageing them on the computer.

I think Nintendo does both 'casual' and 'hardcore' games quite well. We get our Metroid Primes, Mario Galaxy's, Twilight Princess and the like, and they get their Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit+, etc.
