Poll: Do You Want To Live Forever(no matter the price)?

Yes, it's an other one of those "Would you chose X or Immortality" threads, but with a small twist.

After all these "Live forever" polls, I've come to realise that the majority of the Escapist members, would go to great lengths for immortality, so I tried to think of a bargain that most would refuse(or at least find difficult to accept).

[HEADING=1]Main story starts here[/HEADING]
This scientist has made this special elixir that makes you immortal(and invincible, so if the Universe ended you'd be the last guy standing), but there is a price to pay(like in every devilish deal):

If you drink this elixir your personality, attributes and ...the heck everything single bit that makes you unique would change, turning you in the "anti-you". Forever!
Let's say you're good at picking up girls, after the transformation you'll utterly suck at it and you won't ever be able to change this.
Let's say one of your main ideologies is that "Communism is the best thing ever"; after the transformation you won't stand the Communism ideologies, albeit you'll love 100% Capitalism(or what's at the opposite end).
Let's go further: you love the Escapist, after the deal you'll hate it as you've never hated anything in your life. The same goes for preferences of any sorts.
Let's say you're an atheist, you'll forever be an thesis(you have been genetically and irrevocably modified by the potion).
And before you guys start all "there's a loophole somewhere", humour me and consider there isn't.

If you think that drinking the potion again will make you normal, think again, because it will instantly kill you.(your body doesn't support a double dosage, no matter what ever you do) Oh guess there is one little thing that can kill you then...you know I must leave something for the fin print.
In other words you will be the total opposite of what/who you are, and will never be able to change that opposite you. You will be an ageless, everlasting "Constant" in the Universe(although you'll be a totally different person...)

So, will you accept the offer?
[HEADING=1]and ends here[/HEADING]

[HEADING=2]Second topic idea[/HEADING]
If you still say yes, then for discussion value: is there anything that would make you refuse Immortality(+ invicibility and what ever you like to add to that)?

I wouldn't want it, especially if those were the consequences. I don't really fancy living forever, and seeing everything I care about deteriorate into nothingness.

If I were to drink it, it would be even less of a happy time. No thank you!

I'm going with other. To be honest, I'm not sure if I would live forever just because I dislike life as it is. Even with the side-effects, it's a very hard choice.

How about the fact that if the potion flips everything about you, that means that you wouldn't want to live forever anymore, thus you'd just take another dose to kill yourself immediately afterwards?

Let's skip that for a second and answer your question: No, I wouldn't take this deal because you aren't you anymore. For pretty much every other kind of 'possible' immortality, sure there's a chance that a lot about you will change, but not a 100% guarantee you'll be the opposite person you used to be. Also, an immortal, opposite me would be fucking terrifying. Like, Scourge of the Universe kind of terrifying.

Basically, anything that would require me to kill a person who doesn't deserve it, or a guarantee that my moral center would either be destroyed or tampered with. Maybe losing all my memories would make me think twice, but I can think of a few ways around that one.

Even if there were no consequences, I wouldn't want immortality. I'm not afraid of dying, but seeing people I love perish and having to go on living forever rather than being at peace would hurt me. You also have to think that immortality will devalue a lot of things. Where's the rush of driving quickly or skydiving if you can't die? It removes the element of risk which makes being mortal such a rush.

Considering I don't care for the idea of immortality to begin with, that's quite the horrible fate to suffer (In my eyes anywho).

So no, I like me, and I would hate for that to happen, not to mention dealing with hating myself for eternity.

I agree with MisterShine on loopholes. If you have been completely transformed, then surely you wouldn't want to be immortal, because originally you drank an immortality potion, so you'd drink it again to kill yourself.

If I would want to take the potion, that means I never want to die, which means the anti-me would always want to die, and take the potion again to kill anti-myself. So, yeah, no.

Immortality is stupid.

Eventually you will want to die and be unable to.

There is not an infinite amount of things to do.

All the poll options are stupid.

You need to be able to kill yourself, otherwise immortality is not good.

What if someone buried me underground?

What if someone stuck a sword in me (infinite pain if my arms aren't strapped down)?

Immortality should not have a cost, you should be attempting to see what we'd need to accept.

If you wouldn't accept immortality with no negatives (as most people in this thread realise), why would you with negatives?
