First off, I am a parent who plays games. And, yes my parents play games, too ... and so do my kids. Three generations of gamers over here. (It started with me, when I was a teen back in the 1980s. I just brought everyone else along.)

My dad has only really played PS1 games but he's pretty good at them. Mum is useless at both using a computer and any kind of gamepad. She has no hand-eye coordination whatsoever.

Watching her typing is almost painful.

My mum plays Mario Kart Wii, online, daily. She's hardly ever off it.
Back in the old days me and her used to play Doom, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank etc., but those days are sadly over. It's actually a bit depressing.
Although I like the fact that my mum can appreciate games, it does disrupt family life, by her liking games. For once I'd like to have a mum that acted like a mum.
I have to make my own food most of the time, she doesn't have proper conversations with me and it's basically very annoying; I know I'm moaning about it a bit, but I'm just telling the truth.
Sometimes it's just nice to have a family member that isn't into gaming. It's hard to explain.

Neither of my parents play games. My dad doesn't really have the time or the interest and my mom doesn't play games either. She's a bit more receptive to being silly with them though, like trying to play Guitar Hero. That was rather fun to watch. Other than that, her only experience with games was through the Atari 2600 way back when. Frogger and Pac-Man if I remember correctly.

Both of them could play Tetris though. But anyone can play Tetris.

My dad played together with me during my fledgeling gamer years. Nowdays he exclusively sticks to one hardcore RTS I taught to play him some years ago and a few casual games when he just wants something stupid. My mother on the other hand can't tell PC from an xbox.
