Poll: Does Ash Ketchum look 10 years old?

I've always thought he looks at least 13-14. Just something about his face makes him look older to me.
You would think that someone who has been 10 years old for 17 years would at least look 10 years old.

So what do you think, does Ash look 10 years old?

That poor bastard. Man I wish we could have shows kind of like the Anime trailer they did for BW2 - that was so cool.

I would say 13, but his ethnicity is also ambiguous, which really only furthers his confusing stylized design.

For an eastern Asian, he looks younger than 13 - 10 being a bit of a stretch, but somewhat believable from appearance alone. For a Caucasian, however, he seems more or less around 13, but definitely doesn't make for a convincing 10-year-old.

I was under the impression the entire series was a dream or he's an immortal eldrich abomination with memory problems.

Either way, don't care, either age him up, or stop the show, I tire of the idea that he can't age because of the kiddie winkles. Everyone loves the specials with the older pokemon trainers and the more powerful pokemon on display. Why not 'go there' a bit, let some other generic 10 year old don the mantle there for a while and do a spin off.

That made me question what is the "legal" age in that world. Like 14-15 or so? I don't know that's just a guess. Seams wired. Like Elin in TERA wired, not like, but. . . I don't know. I'm confused now. So like the old people would be like in there mid 30's maybe?

Whatever I never watched the show this statement just confused me.

Which is fucking stupid, because the Pokemon league is once a year, right? So shouldn't he be like 24 by now? Maybe that's why Misty left, she realized he had that Garry Coleman disease.

All I can say is that none of the supposed "10 year olds" in Pokemon look 10 to me. I know in the games they bumped the age up to 15, so maybe Ash is now 15 years old? I haven't watched the Anime since they changed voice actors in the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald saga.

I'd say given the art style I've never had a problem believing he is ten, but as he's drawn he could also feasibly anywhere up to thirteen or fourteen. That's probably a deliberate design choice, to give him a slightly maturer image little kids would look up to. In contrast I'd have difficulty seeing him as being any younger than ten, he doesn't have the short stubby limbs or proportionately large head that typifies younger children, for example compare Ash with Max (the kid in the green shirt) from the third generation cartoon, who is about seven:

I always feel like 10 year olds in fiction usually look slightly older than real kids of the same age. Maybe because it's hard to believe a ten year old going on adventures when my own ten year old self had no sense of independence or an ability to do things someone like Ash does.

This is why I like that the protagonists in the 5th and 6th gen Pokemon games are supposed to be around 14, 15, and 16. Can you imagine a ten year old becoming a champion, taking down an evil team, and controlling incredibly powerful legendary Pokemon? It would certainly make any adult in the region feel incredibly lame in comparison.
