The thing with the veterans, I enjoy reading Khell's rants and I know Necrowanson is a sociopath, but then, some of the new members fit right in like a square shaped peg into a square hole. I also enjoy reading Decoy's strange outlooks on the game industry amoung others. Though I do have respect for the people with a bear mug next to their avatar. That sort of means they were here before Yahtzee and the epademic.
Note to self: Must find angle that's unique to me.
Hmm, maybe deep philosophical debate?

I might put an unwanted 'e' in your name: Larenexis. I try not to, but when I say your name in my head, 'Lar-En-Ex-Is'. But generally I try not to.
(Sorry to derail the thread even further)It's Lair-Enk-Sis.
And WlknCntrdiction, I'm sorry, but I will always connect you to you talking about your ex-girlfriend. I think I just attach people to whatever the first thread they start is. Or the first one I read rather, I'm not going to check.

When I first saw that name I looked at it for exactly ten seconds, then decided that it was now "larynx" as far as I was concerned. Your name is purple ninja and Ultra Joe is called DkKnight. If I don't like people's names, I give them new ones.

I'm pretty sure I've already asked this, or remembering someone ask you, but does it actually mean anything?

So... what's your feelings towards the belief that the universe is round? I don't think so. It's just made for people that can't imagine the infinit line of the universe and deny that the universe has any shape or matter. Hogwash!

It's from my very first DnD character: Andromedy Larenxis, the perky halfling bard. I should've gone with Andromedy I guess.

Also, it is round as far as we're concerned, and the earth is at the center of it, as we can only perceive a certain time away as the light travels towards us.

I think it does affect things slightly, people with higher post counts tend to have their posts noticed and responded to more than others. But that may just be down to them making more interesting points.

Edit:

To be honest, I'm not sure what most people here think of me. It's kind of like when I walk past people speaking in a language I don't understand. I immediately assume they are talking about me, and are angry. So very angry.
So its not just me. I have guessed what a fair few think of me, but the majority I have no idea and have since given up caring.

I know I don't personally care much about post count or name recognition. I've been posting on forums since there were forums to post on, and have been playing video games steadily for 25 years. So it's not like I'm lacking experience. But you wouldn't know it, because I don't lurk in this specific forum every free moment that I have.

I'm sure there are plenty of others out there just like me. I side with whoever is right!

Im not sure if im really a veteran or not. I have a pretty old-by-now join date, but low post count when you compare the two. I tend to respect the opinions of people like Purple Rain, Khell, Ultra Joe, Mscherbatskaya. That whole crowd, because I know they normally know what they're talking about, and have the proof to back it up. People with a recent join date and low post count, I dont know what to expect, so I treat them purely upon the content of their post.

I think most people connect me to my avatar. Or perhaps I just hope so.

There's occasionally someone who will treat me as more important than I actually am, and it's slightly embarassing, but I don't know if that's due to postcount or anything else. Personally I'm ok discussing with anyone, and if you prove me wrong, good for you.

Which makes me wonder what you've attached to me?

If I used the name of my first D&D character, I'd be "Raynorshyne"

and I didn't even get the joke when I used it

It just sounded right for some reason, lol.

I'd like to think that I'm a respected Escapist Veteran (though I havn't seen anyone mention my name in some lists....I honestly don't know how to feel about that) and I have friendly debates around here.

Post count and the joined date do have some variables to how you're treated, for example if you just joined yesterday and have 16 posts and most of the posts I've seen from you are worthless peices of crap then I'm going to think lowly of you, but it applies more to the newer youngins than the older Vets.

And I'm loved here....right?..... ._. you people like kittys...right? Though I am tempted to start an "Elite Escapians" clan of some sort, anyone who has 1000+ posts and is considered a respected member is allowed to join in :D

If I submit my application now, and pay the cover charge, can I get in later no questions asked?

Why did you bring her up again? o.0
I was healing so well up until that point.

Applications (personality) are very strict and must be well written (respect from fellow Escapians). If you survive a few months with a reasonable post count, you could be accepted.

Of course your loved here. The Escapist loves all her children equally, (At least thats what she tells me, and it must be true!... Right?) And if Going Gonzo is a requirement for this super secret club, then I must hurry and post on threads with interesting discussions!

I suppose it's not because your post count commands respect, but because you have left your own footprint in the community because of the posts

I pretty much think what everyone's being saying about quality over quantity, but then again, my post count is so low for how long I've been here I'm finding it hard to take myself seriously.
