While waiting to hear what kind of character origins will be available in Dragon Age 3: Inquisition (if any), I wanted to get a sense of what origins people liked most from the original game. Feel free to explain why in the comments, your choice can be for any reason (personal preference, gameplay advantages, etc.)

Dwarven noble was my favorite, the Dwarf sex scenes where fall of your chair levels of funny too.

City Elf because it makes the defense of the Denerim alienage a little more intense when you have more of a connection with the characters.

The Human Noble origin would be my favorite. It's nice how they call that one out throughout the game, as opposed to say the elf or dwarf origins which get only a handful of lines.

The mage origin starts good, but kinda forgets the interesting stuff fast. I got supremely annoyed when I played the second time through it and turned whateverhisnameis (the blood mage guy) and the head master basically dumps me anyway, saying "well, just because!". /sigh

I don't really like the dwarf or elvish origins.

City Elf. It made you feel like you were really starting at the very bottom of the stack. Also, slaughtering your way through a fort in a blood spattered wedding gown was just badass.

Human noble was just dull. Oh look, betrayed, dead parents blah-de-blah-de-fucking-blah.

Dalish Elf was meh. I did like the scene where you say goodbye though.

Dwarf commoner and mage were... alright, if rather forgettable.

Dwarf Noble felt like a clumsy attempt at a handjob.

I must admit I love when you reach Vaughn and his too lackeys prepare to go for you and he just points out how much blood you are covered in and instantly tries to bribe you instead.

So either City Elf for reasons mentioned above and for being probably the darkest of the Origins, or the Mage since personally I liked how it handled the pointing out nearly all the flaws of the circle system in its' self contained story and still getting me more invested later on in the story (partially for coming back in broken circle and annoying Gregoir, but mostly due to how it makes me care alot more about the Arl of Redcliffe storyline)

Dwarf commoner if only because it shows you truly excelling at something. Mage because you can get out of your mess without Duncan, if you played your cards right.

Dalish elf was decent, but the lack of interaction with the elements of the backstory (like the dwarves, mages or city elf) was one of its downsides. Human noble was the start of every RPG ever...
Dwarf Noble is an interesting, though a bit simplistic attempt at ruthless politics. City elf for atmosphere.

I only got to play through two of them (human Noble and City elf), and I don't remember much of either. Do remember that I had it planed out that my elf would be a bit of a psychopath and out for revenge for his wife, but then I found out that it was an arranged marriage, and she was fine, so that kinda ruined that little role play for me.

Both were fine enough I suppose. Did see the boyfriend play through as the dwarf Noble, and that seemed a bit dull to me.

Human Noble was my favorite, because the fact that Tim Curry provided the voice for a character in the game was a major selling point. So more of him, and having his villainy really matter to my character, was a bit plus.

The City Elf origin was also quite good. Overall, I'd say that the Mage and Wild Elf origins were the weakest. The mages because the whole "magic is evil, let's prove it by tempting you with demons" thing seemed rather stupid to me, and the wild elf because it was pretty much dropped after you finished your origin quest. Felt like you weren't really part of the world in the same way that the other ones were.

The only 2 Origins I could sit through were City Elf and Dalish Elf. Finding Human and Dwarf to be dreadfully boring.

However, with both origins, the game really failed me in terms of role playing.

My City Elf wanted vengeance for how the Elvish women were treated, and my Dalish Elf was just a xenophobic dick protecting his forest.
But, as soon as buzzkill Duncan shows up, all of a sudden, killing all humans is no longer feasible. :(
