So yeah they got a new actor for Gregor Clegane. While the old one had a scarier looking face, the new one is just plain HUUUGE. Which one do you prefer?

Sorry for the bad quality, these were closest to the top and I didn't want to scroll more for fear of spoilers.

To be honest...I'm not sure it really matters all that much. If someone hadn't said something, I'd have never even noticed that they were different people (granted, that's namely due to the time that has passed; I suppose I'd probably have noticed if I saw Season 1 and then Season 4 right away...).

EDIT: Shit, and if the post under me is to be believed (and who am I to call DJjaffacake a liar? :D), then the Mountain has been THREE different people and I never noticed. I don't know if that adds to my argument or if that means I don't pay attention... /edit

I'm assuming spoilers for the TV Show are cool here but if not, Season 1 and Season 4 minor spoils (no big plot things, just what the Mountain guy does).

In Season 1, he lops a horses head off. That's pretty freaking sweet...

In Season 4, he turns a man into a shish kabob and lifts him up in the air like a toy with a sword...

Hell, as actors, did either of them either speak outside of grunting noises?

Anyway, I'd go with Season 4. The dude is just stupid huge and that seems to be the only reason for the characters existence unless something major happens in the coming episodes.

This is somewhat inaccurate. The guy who played the Mountain originally left to be Azog in the Hobbit, and they got a different guy for series 2, who was much skinnier. Since that didn't really fit the role, they recast him again, as the guy we saw in the last episode.

Edit: Apparently Bolg, not Azog, and his scenes got cut anyway, but still.

The mountain has been portrayed by three different actors, not two. And actually, he has appeared three times so far, so it's hard to say that a new actor portrays him, when this one (hopefully) would be the only one who would show up more than once. And possibly for more than just a few moments.

As for which one I prefer...dunno - they've all been shown for a grand total of, what, a 2-3 of minutes of screen time? Maybe 5. Not sure I can pick a preference at this point.

EDIT:

Skinny season 2 Mountain wasn't very good. He seemed a bit too literate and not nearly brutish enough. Must've been the silly Lannister helmet he was wearing.

New mountain is literally a mountain. His face isn't too scary, but the guy is fucking enormous.

Both pictures are terrible because they don't show his size relative to other people. Hell, they could both be 4 feet tall from all you know from those pictures.

I kinda prefer the new one, he seems to have more personality to him. The old Gregor was a little too robotic, seemed uncharacteristic for a guy that does nothing but murder/rape/torture all day long just for the hell of it.

I dunno if it was clever camera angles but during conversation it became apparent that you could fit two Cersies into him side by side and hed still have room left over. The man is a goddam titan. I cant imagine a better mountain casting, especially since now you get to see him much closer to other characters and his size is meant to be so friggin obvious and imperious.

From the tiny amount of screen time he's had to this point, I kind of prefer the Season 1 Mountain. He seemed more like a crazy strong dude with notorious brutal anger issues and less like a body builder playing a brute. The beard and grizzled look seems to fit him better (from the perspective of not having read the books). I also feel more of a connection between the Mountain and his brother with the old one. They look more similar so I can relate more to the recent development of the Hound as a character.

But like everyone has said, we have like next to no screen time at this point. Season 4 Mountain might be awesome.

Wasn't there a third actor for that one scene at Harrenhal in season 2? Wait, did the Mountain even have any lines at the tournament in season 1? All I remember is him hulking out and grunting a lot.

He yelled for his sword then hacked his horse's head off. It was Magical.

He's not Azog, he was Bolg in the first Hobbit movie (deleted scenes I believe), though I think some health issues made them have to recast for The Desolation of Smaug.

I'm super biased in that I was following the production from basically day one when GRRM announced they were doing a show version of the books. In fact, I don't remember who it was, but someone on this very site told me they were making a show of it when I posted a thread about what actors we saw being cast in a theoretical movie version. For reference, I've been following the show so long that I was quoted in a Danish tabloid [http://ekstrabladet.dk/flash/filmogtv/tv/article1468068.ece] magazine way long ago when the first stills from the first season came out.

Anyway, I loved the casting of Conan Stevens (#1), in large part because he wanted the role, and he got it in part because there was a massive fan campaign to get him in the show. I was pretty disappointed when I heard there were scheduling conflicts and the role would be recast.

For the record, Conan is 7'1" and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is "only" 6'9"

Same difference.

I wasn't even sure it was a different guy.

Honestly, if I didn't read things about the GoT series outside of watching it, I really doubt I would have noticed. He's been referenced from time to time but hasn't had enough screen time to really register with me in any form. That said, I do think the new guy at least looks the part.

Now Daario on the other hand.. that's a casting change where I liked the old one a ton more than the new one. With the old actor he had the sort of looks and swagger that I could see Dany instantly falling for. The new actor is maybe a better actor overall and could be a good charming slow burner, but he doesn't at all fit the instant impulse sort of feel that I expect from the character.

I'm gonna go with Conan Stevens, the season 1 actor. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is freaking huge, but Stevens conveyed more of the brutality of the character in what little screen time he got. Looking forward to his big fight scene though, maybe Björnsson will be the ultimate brute after all. At least from comparing images on Google Björnsson would seem to be closer to the character body-wise. Stevens looks more like a body builder than a warrior.

The first One was in Spartacus, which i love. So i like him more. Though he was a giant dick in Spartacus so, Swings and roundabouts.
