which is better, the movie or the game made about the movie (or movie made about the game in some cases). this a general question, meaning between all the games and movies that relate to this subject, which is better. between a movie and its game, i usually found the movie better. this is mostly because the game tends to cut out a lot of the movie, leaving behind stuff that is interesting but not the same. so the question again is do you like the movie or the game better.

It depends on the movie. I enjoyed the Harry Potter games more than the movie, if only for the novelty and the hilariously stupid shit that went down.

But if they make a game about, say, Fight Club, I'd call bullshit because it totally misses the point. Good thing they never did, right?

...right?

Games made into movies usually suck as do movies made into games.
Give it 20 years or so and movies and games will be combined (hopefully).

There is a world of a difference of games made from movies, and movies made from games.

The original is generally the better. It's a basic law of physics.

It goes like this, The book is usually the best, then the movie roons it, then sometimes, the TV adaption is ok, but the game brings the whole thing to a screeching halt in any sort of recognizable quality, or in the event that it goes in reverse order games the best movie sucks, books, actually can be pretty good.

I know this'll be blasphemous to some people but...I think both Knights of the Old Republic games (but especially the second one) were better than all the Star Wars movies (but especially Episodes 1-3). The KotOR games explore the notion of falling to the dark side and the various ways in which the Force manifests itself in much more depth than the movies do.

The movies and the games themselves are the best

Games based upon a movie is just a cash-in depending on it's popularity

Movies made from a game will undoubtedly be HORIBIFUCKUS because Uwe Boll has his grubby hands on it.

There are some good games based off movies, never the other way around, but most of the time shitty movies make even shittier games. And good movies make shitty games as well.

I dunno about that; Hitman was pretty good. There's a couple of others that I'm sure I'm forgetting.

i disagree good sir, respectfully, there are numerous books into movies where the movies do 10x more epic than the books end up being (numerous school books i could go and list on, as the books were boring as hell and i fell asleep reading them but the movies were freaking awesome), such as lord of the rings (the book had better length and they had to cut it out, but what they had was pretty damn good imo) and for the 2nd part, the halo games were pretty good, the books were freakin epic, and if they do start production on the actual halo movie, that teaser trailer they had looked legit from what it was (even if it isn't in the actual movie)

i did agree with you mostly on the 2nd part, but just saying thats not the case all the time, i am not such a nitpicky person as it is, so i enjoy things for what they are, but i do realize they aren't the most dead on or necessarily accurate transition

p.s. the prince of persia movie trailers look pretty awesome, and due to disney making it, it should be a great action story movie rather some blood filled fest, which i wouldn't mind but i think they will concentrate on the story/solid action more which is good to me =]

mega rant, sorry

And I possibly not so good nor possibly even a sir am saying that tis is what happens the majority of the time, yes the Lord of the Rings was one of the most epic movie trilogies we have seen in a long time, but there are far more terrible movie adaptions than there are good, also with the book thing I actually was hoping that somebody would reference the halo books, they are pretty good, a lot of game books are pretty good actually, such as the oblivion books, not half bad, but i was saying that books winding up as games will probably suck, I have my fingers crossed for Metro 2033 but I will not be massively surprised if it sucks, but the other way around will usually be pretty good, actually, just the involvement of movies will probably screw everything up, that is where it usually goes bad.

p.s. the prince of persia movie will also likely inhale with extreme vigor (suck).

Gaming takes up more time. But if I don't feel like doing any work, I'll watch a good movie.
