Needs new poll option, or is that the veggie monster one?
Same here. I push people away without knowing it *puts hand up for hi5*
Ok whatever *hi5* (is this relevant?)
Probably not, I just crave attention *cries in a corner*.
I don't need anyone anyway *cries in other corner*
Let's be friends. *Befriends Hakazaba*
Ok

Not really, I usually game about once a week now on Sundays. The break-ups are me subconsciously pushing people away due to my own insecurities. Huzzah.

No, my break up occurred because the relationship wasn't working. Right now I'm single and happy that way.

My last girlfriend and I broke up because of my 'gaming habits'

To put in the proper context, I work 50 hours a week and have little free time. When I come home I want to relax. Her nagging me about her day or about the things I still need to do is not relaxing. Stepping between me and the xbox when I just got home is not a good plan. I played 1 hour a day back then and she thought it was too much and forced me to choose between a 'meaningful relationship' and a 'pointless immature hobby'. Literally 15 minutes later she was calling her mother and packing her stuff and I've been a zealous defender of Gaming as a serious/mature hobby ever since.

(we all know, a mate can get extremely....nagging and annoying, and its nice to sit down to some game time and not have the game nag back at you, but give you the pleasure you deserve)
All about which you think is more important: the pleasure of an uninterrupted video game, or the pleasure of the company of the person you at least supposedly love. If you actually loved that person, it would be a no-brainer which one you should choose. "its nice to sit down to some game time and not have the game nag back at you, but give you the pleasure you deserve" I see which side you take on that note. You little shut-in, you. :) Maybe you might be better with a Japanese girlfriend doll. It won't nag and can only pleasure you.
haha oh i have been on both sides of the line, where there is a nagger and a lover, and this is just for fun really so just seeing what gets brought up in discussion and what the results are

the lover thing is good if it works, but it tended to cut out of my gaming time and i wasn't too happy about that

then the nagger...ohhhhh the naggers. they need to be dropped in the middle of an MMO immediatly so they can feel the awesome power of video games
Funny thing is, the partner needs to also understand how video games are as legitimate an entertainment source as a book or movie. Many non-gamers think games are terrible and unnecessary, which is what causes a lot of the nagging. I am SO glad I'm marrying a fellow gamer. Then we'll just bicker over whose turn it is! XD

My ex sucked at games and kept harping on about her Sega Master System, so I ditched her ass citing 'insurmountable differences'.

My current girlfriend and I spend our down time gaming co-op. So I guess gaming can unite or divide.

My previous GF had a huge problem with my gaming, despite her own love of watching soap operas for hours on end.

I vowed never again to go out with a woman who resents the things that make me happy.

Videogames are the reason she chuckles at me calling her "Jiggle physics" instead of getting offended. Also, she is an archeology major, so make of that what you will.

False.

OT: No, I tend to be excellent at time management. Plus, I'm not really into girlfriend/boyfriend shit. I have a lot of one night stands, though.
So do I, it's called rape.
I have no idea why, but I just burst out laughing at this.
It's cool, I'm sad to say I did too. High Five for being horrible people!

OP: I've never had a girlfriend break up with me because of my gaming. Most of them didn't mind/liked my gaming and the most recent one would play Little Big Plant with me when she came over. It actually got to the point where she was forcing me to stop laying Fallout in favor of LBP.

OT: It's getting pretty close. But still no.

I will never date a man who does not game regularly. :O Which can't be too hard to find, given the ratio of girls to guys here.

The missus plays sims and the like when I'm on the PC (not necessarily gaming myself, I'm even sadder than that) just so we're "in the same room" and occasionally gets annoyed if I go to watch TV instead so she has to break off her game - but then i'm an asshole :D

we haven't had a problem yet.
but i put my girlfriend before everything else so... unless i get hooked on a game we should be good.

girlfriend > video games
girlfriend + cookies = happiness
hence video games =/= happiness
also an unhappy girlfrined can be neutralised by cookies
math is delicious.

I play video games as well as my boyfriend, but when he gets into something, like Street Fighter 4, he'll forget about me. He gets too involved and I get kinda like, "Eh..." But nothing like a breakup over it. Probably cause I can get really involved with a game, like Borderlands or 1 VS 100. So I guess it's kinda mutual.

No, its never caused any real problems for me, especially with the current missus, since she's a gamer too.

should've added another option above the "no" choice to make it look like the poll was flipping you off.

True, but they tend to get a bit dark on you when after sex you roll out of bed (or wherever) and park yourself nude in front of the Xbox. Ah, those were the days...

I was lucky enough to find a girl who's both an incredible person and who likes playing RTS games with me. Never really had a problem with girls complaining about games; if one should decide to date someone who doesn't approve of one's hobbies, one deserves the nagging one gets.
