If you had to choose, which one would it be? Basically I'm asking that, if we lived in the Matrix, and someone offered you a red pill, with which you'd be free of the illusion, but have to deal with the harsh ,cruel, reality, or a blue pill, with which you'd continue on in a happy sate of blissful ignorance, which one would you choose?

Ah, The Matrix has got it all wrong. Happiness IS freedom. The thing of it was that the people of Zion were NOT FREE. They were STUCK underground, hiding from a world ruled by machines. Ergo, the situation of the movies does not depict a notion of freedom.

I'd choose happiness seeing as how I have freedom, but honestly what good is it when you're miserable!? Trust me Happiness is something worth working and giving your all for.

Maybe that's why I'm so Evil.....What do you think Cthulhu?

Cthulhu: I WANT YOUR SOOOOOOOOOUL!!!! Fhtagn..

Yep, couldn't have said it better myself.

True, but the people of Zion fought for freedom, they resisted the machines while the blue pills accepted a false reality without question, preferring submission to rebellion.

At the end of the day I believe that freedom is only a good thing because it enhances happiness, so I would choose being happy over being free.

If I knew what the situation was, I would have to choose freedom. Just because I'm "happy" its...artificial. Once given that situation, I would never be truly happy knowing I was being controlled in some way or another. Fighting for my freedom would be my happiness.

Well, normally I'd say happiness, but in that example...
Hell, how could I resist that red pill?

I think happiness comes from freedom. Either that or extreme ignorance. I'd rather be extremely free than extremely ignorant though.

Be free and miserable or be happy and not free? Easy choice for me, I'd rather be happy, thank you very much.

I still don't understand why anyone in the Matrix wanted to leave and go live in a dump.

Sure, it would be better to know the Matrix was an illusion, but once that's established, I don't know of any reason to leave. Seems free enough. Just establish a human-robot pact, you stay in the Matrix, they keep it free of bugs :p. Done deal.

Happiness without a single shadow of a doubt, without happiness, what is there to live for?

Freedom can lead to happiness, but if I had to choose, I'd stick with happiness. Especially within the Matrix.

I chose happiness. Because with freedom, if you're lonely and miserable, is it really worth it?

It depends upon the situation. I seriously can't say whether I'd choose Freedom or Happiness in a situation like this. In some situation the choice would be more obvious to me, but alot of times I'm guessing it wouldn't be. With Freedom can come Happiness, but not always. I remember reading somewhere where someone said about how humanity was burdened with the chains of freedom. And I like Happiness, but should I really knuckle under, abandon my morals, betray all that I love just so that I can be happy? Sometimes I want to live a life of freedom even if that means unhappiness. Because with that knowledge that I am free, no matter how are life is, I'm still thinking for myself rather than just letting others tell me what to do.

Well I think right know I'll go with Freedom. Although I may not always be happy, it just means that when I am it'll be all the sweeter.

Although this choice is only for right now and my opinion might change at any moment.

i suppose id choose freedom. although happiness is very tempting

also if your thinking of it from a starting point its alot easier to find happiness once your free than find freedom while your happy.. but not free
