Today that big odd shaped country tucked away at the bottom of the world is celebrating all the things that make our country what it is. From Beer and Deadly Fauna, to the fact we don't call it shrimp or ever put it on the barbie. But mainly Australia is just happy for another public holiday.

So Escapist weather or not you Happy Australia day and Strewth mate have a beer!

'Happy' Australia day has never really felt right to me. It feels like saying Happy Christmas or something.

So instead, I'll go for the overly bouyant "Joyous Australia Day to all (Australians)! Eat a sausage, play some cricket, try not to get too drunk and watch out for drop bears!"

No, not really. I'm too busy planning how to celebrate our fourth ODI victory over England. We may suck at test cricket, but at least we're not entirely useless.
