I love 4chan. The /x/ board can be pretty amusing at times.
Well, actually, child porn is not allowed on 4chan. It probably does get in there every once in a while but it gets removed and the poster banned pretty fast.
Ain't nothing wrong with gore, most of which is fake or fairly mild by video game standards.
Misogyny, racism, and all that are all over the internet, and rather funny at times. You don't have to be a butthurt stereotypical liberal over it. Offensive humour is both funny and helpful - it ridicules the proclaimed differences between genders, sexual orientations, and races. And it never hurts to be able to take a joke.
"You don't have to be a butthurt stereotypical liberal over it" - and you don't have to attack me for having a different opinion from you. I didn't said the misogyny and racism never gave me a laugh. Like I said, I know they're just taking the piss. I've been to 4chan on more than one occasion, so obviously I wasn't too horribly offended or I wouldn't have gone back.
But you can't deny the CP and gore. I've never seen "fairly mild" pics in gore threads, they're usually pretty nasty. And /b/ usually gets around CP restrictions by posting CP manga (which, mind you, is a lot better than actual CP, but is still pretty gross).
Edit: Also, I'm talking solely about /b/ here, if that wasn't obvious already.
Child porn isn't illegal because it's "gross". Else a lot of straight assholes would want to keep homosexuality illegal too, just like they did less then a century ago.
Child porn is illegal because the child is being violated. Under the laws, the child is underage in terms of age of consent and is considered too immature and incapable of understanding human sexuality. And as it's seen in multiple cases of child molestation, it tends to have adverse psychological effects, too. The child is a victim in case of real life child porn, and harm comes to said child. So it's illegal.
Manga, however, does not represent real life. When you draw someone horribly dismembered and raped you have not yourself committed either murder nor rape. While the imagery might be found shocking or "immoral" by some viewers, you have not harmed anyone through producing said imagery. So I really don't see a problem. Censorship is worse, in my opinion.
There's a difference between harming a real life human being and simply drawing said harm done to an imaginary drawn human being. Making the latter illegal is almost like saying that thinking about murder makes you a murderer and you have to go to prison - thoughtcrime, basically. If it doesn't hurt anyone in process of creation (unless said harm was agreed upon by all the parties and some kind of contract was signed), I don't see a problem with it.
As a liberal, or perhaps an ex-liberal, I will attack many of the traditionally liberal view points because many of them stink of hypocrisy and idiocy. So do many traditionally "right-wing" views. Some, from both sides, are reasonable. I do not associate with either movement, although most of my core beliefs are definitely "liberal" in nature, and will criticize both until my demise. So, I suppose, hate me if you will.
