After playing through Heavy Rain my first time I realised that it is arguably my favorite game of all time. It's the first game ever to make me feel so many emotions. I felt everything from pity and anxiety to sadness and shame. These are normally negative emotions but Heavy Rain pulled them off so perfectly not to mention all those emotions take place in the controlled enviroment of a video game. I really, sincerely felt all these emotions for the characters throughout the whole game. On several occasions it even made me question my morals and even myself. Yes, it hit me that deeply.

In conclusion, Heavy Rain, while not perfect, is truly a gaming masterpiece IMO. They took everything that made Indigo Prophecy good and refined it all into something nearly perfect. Heavy Rain nearly redefines "video game". So if you have a PS3 and a spare $60, got get Heavy Rain now, you must save ingenuity in gaming such as this before it goes extinct. Before it all gets lost amongst the monotony of the mindless FPS genre

^This.

Never before in my life has a game made me feel so many things at the same time. It's like the best movie ever!

Eh, to me, it was an alright game. Unlike other people, I wasn't too attached to the game because, well, it's just a game. As for gaming masterpiece? That's all opinion, much like art, anything considered a masterpiece is all based on opinions.

It's hard to say. You could make a fine argument that it's barely a game by conventional standards and that's fine. Whatever the hell it is, I enjoyed every single second of it.

Heavy Rain was not only a great game, but also one of the best movies I've seen in years.

Perhaps in terms of a mature story, it is a masterpiece.

But as a whole game, it has a good amount of flaws that stop it from being a true masterpiece.

Still, it was great to finally play a game with an actual decent story, and not something that could have come out of a teenager's mind.

I'm just sad that it took out every ounce of gameplay from teh game in order to have a story that STILL had loose ends and still managed to have enormous holes.

I love the story, I was emersed in the game and it is the only time I have played a game with QTE's and not been annoyed with them at all(well I was annoyed if I missed one but that would be my fault and not the game's).

Shelby is such a badass the second time he goes to the mansion.

No it isn't great. It did have the potential to be great. It just failed at the most important aspect of the game. It forgot to make a compelling experience. Sure I get the whole shaving tutorial but from there we move to the waiting game. And we wait. And wait for something to happen. Which takes forever to have something happen. And I don't mean some epic fight scene or action sequence. No I mean more than an inner monologue of whichever character. And the story itself just follows every cop serial killer cat and mouse cliche ever made. Gee the PI went into a convenience store. I wonder what will happen next?

And the girl's fight scene/shower scene ending was a kick to the nuts. That type of BS should be illegal.

I haven't played it yet, but I do plan to try it out. A friend of mine keeps raving about how he loves it. Lol. So I may just end up picking it up sometime.

I believe it should be commended, if only to encourage better storytelling in games. I don't forsee it starting a new genre or anything, but hopefully more games will take notes from it.

Cage forgot that just because you can make anyone the killer doesn't mean that you make the one character for whom it is basically physically impossible unless you insert magic scenes the killer. Then there are the other plot holes that when you reach the reveal you figure out were just bullshit, that still are not even resolved. Other than that great game.

Great game, really pulled me in. After playing through it a bunch of times and seeing all the endings, I can't wait for the DLC.

I found it interesting watching my buddy play a few hours, and seeing how different people interact with the game. How during dialog you can lean and sit around the room, which changes the music and gives you a cinematic camera. Watching him play, he just stammered around the room. Making his experience less than note worthy. But once he realized that the experience is up to him, I couldn't pry the damn controller out his hands.

So in my opinion the game is what you make it, and most of the control issues are user related.
If you were expecting splosions and action, action, action, you bought the wrong game. I didn't buy Army of Two:40th Day for the story, I can guarantee that. I got it for the co-op.

Its nice to see a game this year without just a 2 slapped on the end(even though some of them were good), or another God of War press 'x' to victory game.

Just glad its not on the XBox360, its would have never existed with that Halo-Gears of Micheal Bay-I-need-a-gun-in-every-game crowd. But I digress....

My brother told me about it before, and told me about the plothole(s). It sounds like a decent enough game that I'll probably play eventually, it's just a shame that the plothole kinda ruins the story, especially when it's story driven.
