pretty self explanatory this one. The PS1 era was my first experience of gaming and the two titles are Hogs of War and Worms. As an antidote to boredom I decided to figure out in my head which I had enjoyed more. On balance, Hogs of War has 3D mapping (really quite good 3D for the PS1), very funny dialouge and exaggerated national sensibilities being spouted by pigs, the voice of Rick Mayal taking the piss out of you in the multi-player, and some very well designed and fun to play missions.

On the other hand, Worms had an exploding sheep as a weapon, an exploding sheep as a weapon, an exploding sheep as a... well, you get the idea.

So Escapists; which, in your opinion, was better? Or can you think of a PS1 game that blitzed them both in the fun stakes.

I have never played Hogs of War. However, I've played and loved Worms 2, Worms World Party, and Worms: Armageddon, the latter finding itself in my top 10 games of all time. No matter how awesome Hogs of War is, it will never be my choice. Worms all the way!

Hogs of War? Never heard of it. But Worms I have heard of, and played. Great fun with friends, and Reloaded is available on Steam.

Although talking about it really makes me miss Scorched Earth.

I have actually heard of Hogs of War. I have played it once, but my friend (whom owned the game) lost it... and that was back in fifth grade. I'll just say, I can't really remember much from the game, but I really wish for a sequel. Also, worms wins on the account of that it has survived...

Hogs of War. I know I know, it was one of those games no one ever seemed to like but I just preferred it. I loved the idea of having to level up your men, and it felt like an actual loss when one of them went down, because you lost all that work you'd put into training them as well.

Plus I generally found it easier than worms. Apart from the final mission, which was impossible, Hogs of War was a challenge, but I was able to complete it. Worms was either impossible or too easy, with no in-between.

Captcha: Skid Row. Yes, I know I like Gary Moore Captcha, but Skid Row was not exactly his best work.

The 2D Worms games were beter than Hogs of War, but the 3D Worms games were terrible.

I've never even heard of Hogs of War before just now. I am very familiar with Worms though, and love that game.

Oh, absolutely right on. Scorched Earth was a lot of fun. All I am thinking about now is MIRVs.

Also on the subject of Worms and the mention of Scorched Earth just helped me remember Liero. I think I dumped more time into that game than I care to admit. Also pleasantly surprised to see it still exists.

I'm going for Hogs of War. One of my favorites during my childhood.

The announcer is hilarious so are the piggies. The 3D aspect gives it a form of challenge, I mean you got to calculate X, Y and Z axis if you want to hit anything. Each faction represent different nations and the piggies do a grand job making fun of them. The Sargent, oh the Sargent.

Worms is my choice, but I've never even heard of Hogs of War so I am admittedly biased. Nevertheless, I've had more fun than I should have with the Worms series. 'specially Armageddon.

Yeah, this right here. Before this thread, I never even knew a game called Hogs of War existed. Worms 2, on the other hand, was one of my favorite games ever growing up. I wish Reloaded still had the eight-Worm teams and larger map areas...

Multiplayer - Worms
Solo - Hogs Of War

Hogs just worked rather nicely as an on going campaign.
