I almost always use Ghonesis as a nickname in games, combining Ghostfire (a nickname I made up earlier but was taken), and Genesis, meaning Origin.

But when I have to create a character to role-play, I usually just make something up, referring to the default names sometimes.

Maybe I'm referring to stuff I don't know about.

Latest character names I came up with were: Malyk Gelemnos and Jake Doblis Drimsby.

Do they refer to anything?

Usually I either use the default name or come up with a very silly name but a few years ago I started using Raoul Duke as my go to name just kinda fit my play style in many of thoes games. Cookie for the refrence.

Depends on the game. If it's a fantasy game, I'll use a lore friendly. Anything else, I'll use my real name.

Usually referential, however, I once named by Commander Shepperd "Commander", so it would make sense when everyone called him that.

For some inexplainable reason that has been lost in the mists of time, my first character in any game that lets you set your own name, is always called Delboy.

It really depends on the game, and what I feel like, so I picked (Other)
I have named toons after anime characters, mobs in other games, IRL people that I like, my own name, a varient of my own name, something lore-based, or something for the sake of lols.

For RPGs I usually go with someone's name (anime/game/etc.) that suits the character, or I will make something up on the spot (especially elf names).

In games like pokemon and zelda where the name is spoken in text but nowhere else i usually name him "I Say I Say" that way they all sound like foghorn leghorn. But in something like Fallout or Dragon Age i usually name him something related to the game itself, Fallout would be a common 50's name eg. Jimmy and dragon age would depend on the race i play as.

Hey guys, just wondering what you guys usually do when a character name screen pops up.

Do you click the default name?
Do you use your own name?
Do you just use a regular name? (like David or Kelly)
Do you use a name to fit the theme? (like Evelyn or Aden in a fantasy)
Do you make a stupid or funny name? (like Fagballs or Professor Titty Wiskers)
Do you choose a name that references a different game or other media? (like those annoying "xxxSephirothxxx" names)

Feel free to share the names you use most. I personally just go with the default on pretty much everything.
I usually just go by Madara all the time. It's been my alias in gaming for a long time now and seeing how it's my Escapist and Youtube name I'd prefer to go by the same title while playing a game seeing as how most of my friends rarely call me by my real name.

So either Joey (My name) or Madara (My Alias)

I usually use default or lore-friendly. Anything else causes me physical pain. I was trying to get my brother to FINALLY play FFVII, and he insisted on naming Cloud "Bob", Tifa as "Harry", and Barret as "Betty".

He lasted longer than I did. -.-
