Alright this is to discuss some of the new racing games that are coming out soon or already have. I really want to buy a new one since some how my NFS: Undercover got scratched, I'm pretty sure it was my sister, but I'm not sure what to get.

There is:
Need for Speed: Shift
Foroza Motorsport 3
Gran Torismo (sp?)

and others I may have forgotten,

NFS: Shift already has some great reviews and it's extremly tempting to get right now but I don't wanna get screwed over if I spend my money now just to here that another racing game is 10x times better then it. I heared that it is very immersive with the driver view, you don't have to win most of the races just to progress or earn enough cash to buy a good enough car to progress. But that said the difting is supposed to hard to do, it isn't as good looking as the other racers and has only 70 cars and fewer tracks then the rest. Foroza is suppose to have over 400 cars, its sound great but makes me fear that most will be useless, like really how many of those are going to be worth racing?

So just tell me what you think. Thanks. Sorry if this is a dupe.

I myself don't like racing games.
but the Burnout games are a good compromise between driving and destruction.
and the GRID demo was fun. but only when making roadblocks while playing with friends.

Edit: Sorry, is this only about new racing games?
Ignore my input then, 'cos I don't go for them.

Any game with any drivable objects can be a racing game
with time or modding

Go watch the movie Top Gun....what too old of a joke?

Alright, well i would go with the Gran Tourismo games, im not sure what they did with the Need for Speed games but i dislike almost all of them.
supposedly this NFS is suppose to get right back into it's roots, it was made by Slightly Mad Studios instead of the normal Blackbox Studios, since they went bankrupt. It's more like a sim now and less arcadey, some reviewers are saying it has prefrect balance of arcade/sim features.

I'm quite looking forward to Forza 3. I currently own Forza 2 and it's pretty good. The tracks look good and also in Forza 3 I think you can get an online auction house so you could sell off cars that you don't need. I also think they can be heavily customized as well.

So, to sum up, I'd get Forza 3. I like the look of NFS: Shift but Forza 3 would be my choice.

I got Shift today and it is AMAZING! Get that or wait on GT5, the graphics on that game look fantastic and are sure to be some of the best this gen, it has over 1000 cars, around 70 tracks, amazing physics, now includes Nascar, has full damage modeling and smoke unlike prologue, amazing customisation options. Seriously, you can't go wrong with a Gran Turismo game.

Wait until they all are out, then compare the customer comments and reviews, then make the decision.

It's kinda hard to talk of games that are yet to come out, since we can't know for certain what is just hype and what is reality.

It all depends of exactly what type of racing game you prefer.

Forza 3 should be brilliant, but GRID and Midnight Club: LA are also both excellent games.

If you like street racing games and customisation, then Midnight Club:LA is a good choice, some say it's too difficult and frustrating, but I think it's fine once you get used to it. It's more 'arcady' that other titles, but it's great fun.

Okay, so I love the Burnout games, I loved NFS Most Wanted and I liked Carbon. I hated ProStreet with a passion, and while Underground had the right idea, it's myriad bugs made it near unplayable. I also dislike Gran Turismo and Project Gotham Racer. I just found them boring.

With that knowledge, what are the odds I'd like Shift?

Wow that was very insightful and I do believe out of the responses you and me are the most closely minded people here. I do love my cars and one of my favorite parts is custimization. I found it disappointing in NFS: Underground and I wanted more like Most Wanted. If Foroza is going to be the jesus of custimization out of the 3 then I'll sure as hell wait for it. But that being said I would have to see how the online fairs, NFS: Shift is said to have seemless online play, no lag to be found. Unlike NFS: Underground where there were laggy moments and the finer details of your car couldn't even be seen so it was as if your car wasn't unique at all.
