Poll: If all drugs were legal...

...would you use them? So I'm currently in the process of writing an EPQ at school, and I've chosen the topic of drug decriminalisation. This got me thinking about whether or not it would change anything, as in whether drug use would increase. So, would you take recreational drugs if they were legal? If so, what would you use? For me, I'd probably try cannabis, it just sounds like my kind of thing, even though I've never really felt like I've ever needed to enhance my life with drugs. I could probably even try some MDMA or LSD, assuming that I knew exactly what I was taking. What about you guys?

Nope. I'm boring...

The only (currently) illegal drug I would have even considered would be weed but I have asthma so basically anything smoke-related is out the door.

As to other drugs, I either don't like the loss of control I would have (LSD, alcohol[footnote]Yes, I realize alcohol is legal. I'm making a point about loss of control of your body :D (see this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.829602-Poll-If-all-drugs-were-legal#20212182] post right below for a better clarification for what I mean)[/footnote]) or would never even risk the incredibly shitty side effects (heroin).

The legality of drugs doesn't affect me, if anything I only think that you just have to be more discreet about it, and not hit up, or smoke it in public.

Though, that doesn't mean I support all drug use, there's many drugs I wouldn't touch. Coke, Ketamin and Heroin, being the big three that i would never touch, no matter what people tried to tell me. Not just the way it screws up your whole entire life, but the way that it's such a money hole, not to mention addictive as shit.

I truly don't see anything wrong with lower-classed drugs, in fact the worse drugs that i have taken were legal high's. Poppers truly messed me up, MDMA, and Cannabis, or hell even that Speed I took once, did absolutely nothing to my wellbeing, and it was benefited by the fact that i never felt the need to start an addiction to them. My friends can also vouch for that as well, especially since i know someone who became partially blind for a few hours while taking Salvia.

Now i just smoke weed now, and again, and if anything, the benefits of the drug, outweight the bad. It does wonders for the sleep patterns for example, and makes me want to eat more, which is good considering i rarely eat two meals a day.

No. I've smoked pot before and I don't care for it all that much, and I have no interest whatsoever in other drugs.

You would have to take a fair bit of LSD to lose control, a couple of tabs and you'll just see a lot of triangles and melty walls.

Personally, it's all about whether or not the risk is worth the reward. LSD, MDMA and cannabis are all, by my judgement, worth their individual health risks. Cocaine just isn't fun and solvents, meth and heroin all seem shit dangerous. Besides, I wouldn't want to get involved with something highly addictive, where I lose long-term control of my intake.

I'm not sure how knowledgeable some people are of the rules, but just it's against the rules to admit to taking part in illegal activity so just be careful. Me? I'd never touch the stuff. Honest.

No. I can be fairly certain of this, in that I don't use legal drugs like alcohol or tobacco.

I don't think I was very clear when I wrote that (I'm still trying to figure out a good way to do it).

Even the little amount of control loss is not something I like. To use a (hopefully) good example, I don't like to drink alcohol because even just a tiny bit of loss of control feels really weird to me. Like...that tiny amount of buzz when you've had a drink or two (so you're not drunk yet but you can feel it)....that feeling bugs the hell out of me. For whatever reason, whether it's a justified fear or not, I don't like the feeling of not being in complete control.

Nah . Other than alcohol , i don't like doing drugs . I've tried weed and extacy , i don't like the feel of the former and the effects of the latter stay too long. While sex on E is AMAZING , it's not something i want to become addicted to . I also don't like the compagny of drug addicts , i have nothing against people that try it , or do it once in a while , but people that are constantly taking drugs and need a constant fix bug the hell out of me.

I think the real question for me is how much more often would I use them.

The answer is frequently.

No. I prefer to keep all of my faculties intact. I once took a prescribed medication that kept me groggy and "out-of-it" for a week, even after I stopped taking it. Hated the sensation. I wouldn't put myself into that state again, or any other drug induced state, for recreational purposes.

No, I don't even drink. I like feeling in control of the things I say and do. I have a hard enough time not saying the wrong thing sober.

Plus there's that whole "addiction" thing. And the health risks.

Overall, not worth it in my eyes.

I'm a big fat no.

Hell, I don't even like taking legal, prescription drugs. I'd rather just stay healthy by living a healthy lifestyle (eating right, exercising, etc.) so I wouldn't need to worry about getting sick and taking drugs.

Also, I'm afraid of needles; So the less trips to the doctor's, the better.

I don't drink or smoke the stuff that's legal now, so the answer is going to be no. Granted, part of the reason is because I think the sheer physical sensation of alcohol, smoke, etc. is disgusting, but also, life is fucked up enough as it is without poisoning my brain chemistry.

"Use" would not probably the word I would use, but I'd at least try weed and LSD. Perhaps even one of those that gets you super pumped and then go partying like crazy.

I already stay away from all alcohol and tobacco, so I'd stay away from this as well. Obey the man in glasses, kids!

OP you're not gonna get the best replies on here.

Similarly, posts including, advocating, or linking to illegal or adult material are a very quick way to end your time as part of The Escapist community. An example of these are:

-Sexist, Racist or Perverted Remarks
People will get moderated if they admit anything

considering their legality has never been relevant for me when deciding whether or not to use them in the past, i'll have to say nothing would change for me. it would just be a technicality that i would continue to ignore.

I smoke the weed but that's it now. I know a lot of people who are big on the sniff, and they're quite a state, so I stay well clear. Even if all drugs were legal, the experiences I've had (particularly on shrooms) is enough to keep me the fuck away.

Definitely, I'm just that kind of a guy. Most of the songs I love to listen sound a lot better when on some good drugs.
But I would say no to the heavier stuff, because the risks are just so much greater.
