Poll: Implants: Do/would you support them? (Probably NSFW)

So, I've got a new topic for this weekend. And yeah, its about;

There was a picture of a rather pretty lady, who had breast implants. It wasn't an inappropriate picture by any means (it was just a swimsuit picture) but it got taken down by IMGUR, because apparently IMGUR is now run by these guys;

But one of the more interesting comment threads was one where the OP had said they'd never support or let their GF get breast implants. It turned into a whole shebang with like 100 comments going back and forth about liberty, personal choice, appearance, cost etc. and a few going back and forth about if they would get themselves implants if the opportunity arose. So it got me wondering;

Escapists, would you support your girlfriend/wife/significant other getting or having breast implants? For those of you would be more...directly concerned with such an subject; if given the opportunity to get them for yourself?

For sake of clarity; we're going to assume the reason isn't negative or bad - they're/you're not getting them to cheat or otherwise misbehave. So I guess I'm trying to say its for purely...er, benevolent reasons?

Personally...I'd be fine with it. Its her body and her life, so if she wants to get a...boost...then I'm not going to say anything about it.

What's the health risk to implant these days compared to the past troubles with them?

That would be my only concern if my GF were to get implant if she is doing it for herself.

I'm conflicted on this. First the obvious, if it is cosmetic surgery to repair damage, such as accidents, mastectomies, etc, then of course. Beyond that, I have a big issue with any woman being told what she can or cannot do to her own body (not including self harm. It's not a look I'm personally fond of, but that should have 0 bearing on someone else's decision. On a personal level, I would be concerned that is is a sign of a greater issue of confidence and body acceptance.

I am a dude so I know I'm "supposed" to be all hot and bothered by big boobies but frankly, I think that they're incredibly gross looking. They just don't generally look natural (probably because they aren't). However...

I would never hold it against someone if they wanted and/or had fake boobies. If I had a girlfriend (foreveralone.gif), I would be against her getting them but more because I don't like the way they look rather than any moral failings. If she absolutely insisted on it, I wouldn't stand in the way.

To me, they're just like getting prominent tattoos or big piercings/gauges; I might silently think you look like a moron but I'm not going to stop anyone from doing what they want with their own body.

Mark it as mature, you literal wanker. Clearly it was meant for the purposes of sexual gratification so you can't exactly say that they were wrong in their judgement. Users are getting more and more fed up with finding softcore porn being on the site without the mature filter. People are fed up with it even with the mature filter, as most folks aren't there for literal pornography. Additionally, you can have an image hosted on Imgur without it being published. It can still be viewed and even embedded as long as you have a direct link.

To be fair, the people of Imgur throw a colossal shit fit even on non-nude images that have been marked mature. There seem to be roving bands of people who have turned mature stuff on just so they can ***** and complain and report stuff.

It's pretty bizarre.

As for the original topic, sure, I'm cool with fake breast. Unless we're talking about the absurd 45 pound implants that you see on the news. I might have a problem with that - Not an ethical one, but from a safety and sexual arousal perspective. And I'd never tell anyone I refuse to allow them to get them, though I'd have to be honest and say I would probably leave if the went the clown boob route.

If we ever perfect cosmetic surgery, great. That is to say, 100% flawless, no drawbacks. I love character creation for a reason, and if I could do that in real life for myself, hell yeah Id do it. But as long as it requires multiple visits, and it usually ends up going bad even if done right, gonna pass.

Ofcourse, as a transgendered person, I do ultimately support them, as many transwomen get them so they can feel right, either to enhance hormone therapy's results, or if they for some reason don't go on it but want breasts. People should have a right to their own body, just as long as they are doing it for themselves and not to appease the shallowness of others.

If she was doing it for me, like she felt she had to change herself to "please" me or something like that, then I would do my best to talk her out of it.

Though to be honest, in any case, I would try to discourage her. I'm hardly up to date with implant technology, but what I've heard is that it can be unsafe, and will come back to bite you when you get older.

I honestly don't care for gigantic breasts. To be honest, I'd have to do a lot more research than I'm willing to for a hypothetical, so I really don't know. Given my rather limited knowledge on the subject, it wouldn't be a deal breaker, but I'd try to talk her out of it.

No. But I certainly wouldn't frame it as not letting her do so. That would be inappropriate and kind of creepy. Rather, if I had a girlfriend who decided she wanted to do that, it would mean she wasn't the person that I thought she was. I would never knowingly date the sort of girl who would choose to have cosmetic surgery. I find it very unattractive. I don't want to be with some blow up doll of a human being who has transformed herself into what she thinks is attractive, but with someone who looks life herself, whose appearance matches her genetics, her life, and who she really is.

Breast augmentation is a relatively safe and common surgery. But ANY surgery carries risks and causes some amount of physical trauma. Choosing to undergo that for no real reason is the mark of extreme stupidity in my opinion. Or at least suggests our values would be far too different to ever truly understand each other.

Yea, health risks would be my main concern as well. I'm personally not fond of the look a lot of times, but I've got a big issue with people telling other people what they can and can't do with their bodies and that's a complicated issue in itself (where do you draw the line between medical risk and someone's need for the procedure?).

These overall seem to be pretty standard risks for such a surgery, but according to that website implant complications occur in at least 1 out of every hundred who get implants. Plus as they get older, you're more likely to have more medical risks and eventually have them removed.

Initially I was going to say yes, but without the more details I can't say I'd exactly want her to have all those potential risks. Ultimately though, it is not my decision since it's not my body. So personally no, but overall, not my decision.

Huh, don't think I have ever seen implants brought up in casual conversation before that wasn't around a celebrity supposedly having them. I'm sure I've met people with them, but I've never been made aware by them or someone they know more closely than myself that they have them. Hmm...

Anyways, sure, why not? As long as their sure about their decision, but even then it isn't really that permanent a decision anyway when it comes down to it. Just costly I suppose.

Not my body. So who am I to say what she can and can and can't do with it? As for if I like it or not... I like large breast, but I prefer natural. It won't be a break up thing most likely, but they might kinda creep me out a bit.

Like take for example, there was this one pornstar who got massive implants and she had noticeable scar that was at least the size of a thumb right in the middle of her boob. Was nasty as hell.

Thankfully, I'm not in a situation where I personally need implants, but if someone else wanted them, significant other or not, I wouldn't try to stop them.
I mean, it's their choice. If they were my significant other, I'd probably make it clear that they wouldn't need implants to impress me, but I'd support their choice.

Not on principle. Surgery to change how you look for no good reason isn't something I'm in any way in favor of, especially for someone I care about.

Having said that, far be it from me to put my foot down on something that's not really about me, but about the self-esteem and personal choices of someone else, even if I'm involved with them. So, I'd probably have a long discussion with her about this and if she insisted and had looked into the subject and was well-informed on the subject, I'd support her choice.
