Video games are about having fun, exploring yourself and the human condition, creating an experience and enjoying it. The fact that you need some stupid XP bar to move forward every time you play a game is a very clear indicator that you don't care if the experience is fun or thought provoking or any of that, you just care that you can flex your gamer cock and say "yo bro, ma KDR is like 4.62 and I have eighth prestige and 22 nukes, what now *****!".

Look mate, do yourself a favor and re-evaluate why you play games. Or why you do anything for that matter. Or pick up a better game. That works too.

Excuse me, but that is not the reason I play games at all. Frankly, I'm quite offended.

I'm not going to lie, I do greatly enjoy the ranking system because as well as the in the moment experience of each game, I get a feeling of greater accomplishment. The rank system, allows me to unlock new weapons, perks, killstreaks yadda yadda yadda which all enable me to experience something different each match.

You're right, I don't play CoD Online for a thought provoking experience. It's not designed to be that way, I play other games for that.

Don't be so quick to judge. I'm pissed off because what was shaping up to be one of the better instalments in the series has been revealed to be just a lie to get PC gamers back on side.

Today I discovered that the dedicated servers promised to PC gamers for MW3 have not been what everyone expected. Dedicated servers will be unranked only. This means that if you wish to level up and make any kind of progress you have to use IWNet, the matchmaking service introduced in MW2.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

The reason most of us wanted Dedicated servers is so that we can enjoy the game with a regular group of people, in a low ping environment, with the settings how we like them. While it's true that you can still do this, it's a moot point because you make NO PROGRESS while doing this. I don't want to have to play with a bunch of random people I don't know, across someone's inevitably terrible broadband connection, with no admins, just so I can level up.

So PC gamers, I ask you, Will you be getting MW3 in light of this news?

I for one, will be cancelling my pre-order if this doesn't change.

I approve of this. Wanna rank up? Get off your custom server rule bullshit, play the game as it was engineered by the fucking developers. No you don't know game balance better than they do. Yes, you had best stop modding and aimbotting. Suck my left testicle, because why should you get any preferential treatment to anybody else, especially considering a significant PIRATE entity existing in the PC market. If you want to rank up, you'd best actually -buy- the game. You don't think IW.Net wont force your game to run a checksum of your game files, and validate your key each time you log on? Hah!

I'm not too interested in competitive multiplayer, so this news and CoD in general elicit from me a big Meh. I like the campaigns of CoD, but I don't really feel like paying $60 for half of the game.

Really wish they would make a co-op focused title and take a year off from team deathmatch.

Actually that's pretty much what the Spec-Ops portion of the game is. You and your buddies in a survival mode :3

The attitude some people have in this thread makes me sick, the man is standing up for what he believes in by not getting the game and you're acting like he's being stupid, it's called backbone.

No, my clan wants to run a server with a map rotation we like, with the power to kick arseholes and cheaters, and be able to rank up. Just like we did in CoD4. I've played COD4 and MW2. I know which system worked much better for most of the people I've spoken to.
So yeah don't go accusing me of being a cheater and a pirate. I'm pretty offended.

Well, friend, that'd be considered a private match. You don't get to rank up in private matches because it'd be so easy to just plain boost all the way to 10 prestige in the course of a week or two.
