I can say some racial things when I'm angry with certain people, but it has nothing to do with hating people based on race. I do think though that there are some people out their that should pull the monkey for there arseholes and stop being overly sensitive about the issue though.

I wouldnt say to the point of bigotry, no.

But everyone is racist in how they view the differences in people based on how they look though. But I think its human for people to realize differences and act accordingly towards them based on a past experience with it. We're all human, though. Doesn't mean that everyone thinks the differences are bad or look down on them.

People acknowledge the differences from other people. You only become a bigot when you use those to make others seem beneath you or make yourself better.

It all depends on the extent at which you to take the definition of the term

Children aren't racist. We aren't born mistrusting people with different skin color, so it's not instinct. I think it's what we're told reinforced by experience. If you drive through a poor neighborhood, it's no secret that it's going to be mostly if not entirely non-white.

I don't think there's even a chance that my generation will fix racism, and the next couple of generations look pretty bleak too. But I do think that each one will get better. Hopefully we'll eventually learn that extreme political correctness will only hinder our progress.

I hate everyone, but not in a racist way as in I hate people based on race/religion, but I hate people based on them stereotyping themselves. If they do that, they are just asking to be made fun of. I know that not all people of a group are stereotypes, but they are there.

Racist, however, believe that everyone of one race is a stereotype, or they are compensating for a problem in there life. EG, poverty, family troubles, lose by the group they hate. One or more of these problems can lead to passionate hatred and more often that not racism.

To answer OP's question, no, not every one is a racist, but anyone can become one under the right circumstances.

To think that the quivering stupidity and ignorance in this thread actually made me care enough to sign up here.

Profiling. Ever heard of it? Look it up. We make assumptions everyday, about everything. In the case of people, narrowing the field down to race alone is simply single-minded. We make assumptions based on their race, clothes, physical structure, facial features, their countenance, the way they present themselves, etc. Everyday, all the time. For those of you thinking it's morally wrong, quit quivering under the title of racist. It's something we do to our own advantage.

Stereotypes exist for a reason. It's not because they are complete truth or apply to most, it's a handy template to judge people by. You think you're above judging people? A person, any sex, any race, any clothes, wielding a knife approaches you at night. You're going to assume, you're going to judge that their intentions are not the best. If you didn't use this handy tool, you'd be laying dead on the ground in a pool of your own blood.

Not just in circumstances of the extreme as above, but like the example Stinkychops gave. That's not being racist. That's being a nice person, that's using tact, that's not being a douche. Of course the food you prepare will have its own connotations, but you'd prepare it based on the occasion. If it's just a quiet visit for dinner you're not going to be preparing an exquisite feast with truffle now are you? Common sense. Use it.

More on topic. I'd rather not use the term, because as most of you have further imbued in me, their is a complete lack of understanding of what racism refers to. But in answer to the OP, no, not everybody is racist.

Really? Its a fact? Well god damn, mind telling me where you got those numbers?
I'm extrapolating from the Reddit demographic survey [http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/ac9hi/demographic_of_reddit_an_experiment/], although the average age of The Escapist is certainly lower.

There's no need to be offended by the lack of ethnosocioeconomic diversity here; it's just how it is.

Well, I thought you were pulling something out of your ass, I /would/ hate that, although if your going to base yourself on something, I might aswell give it the doubt.

No, trying to come up with justification for hating other humans beings is stupid. Arguing that it's instinct is stupid as you can overcome instinct.
Racism is natural like humans being social animals is. We like our own kind. Case in point: when all the black kids hang out with only black kids, or the asians only hang out with asians.

OT: I am not racist, nor ever will be. I find that as long as a person has warm blood in their veins, feels pain, has feelings and emotions, then they are human and the same no matter what. We all have bones, blood, nerves, cells etc and the skin is nothing more then a shield to protect all of that. Who cares what the colour is, any racist git on this site should burn in hell to be honest, or at least never ever say anything whilst im around, else i shall curse you.
Oh my the irony. "We're all equal, except those people who disagree with me. Rape their women and kill their kids." Sounds familiar, amirite?
Saying "it's natural!" is NOT justification to dislike a person or people different than your own. You know what else is natural? Fighting others for the food and territory you want, but do I walk into a friend's house and kill him because it's nicer than mine? No, no I don't. So saying that racism is natural and should be embraced rather than forgotten is stupid and makes you look stupid.

Even if it is only a little, I think all people will have small bias towards their own ethnicity/race. I don't think it's a coincidence that the vast majority of people who are in relationships are with someone of the same race.

I'm not sure that counts as racism though, because it isn't necessarily derogatory or discrimination, at least, no more than feeling more attracted to brunettes than blondes for example.

It would be like saying it's sexist for a straight guy to want more male friends than female ones.

Well...kind of. I think I heard about some study a bunch of scientists did, and they apparently found out that the phenomenon of 'racism' happens because of an ancient 'survival skill' hardwired into our genetic code; namely, the skill that identifies 'outsiders' beyond one's own group.

So some people's racism can partially be explained by that, but overall most people aren't inherently racist, even a little bit, unless conditioned to be.

Oh rly? keep your eyes open while you sneeze, i dare you. Instinct is hard wired into part of our brain completely separate from our cerebral cortex (creative thinking part) you cant over come certain instincts unless you cut out your "animal brain", and good luck living after that. Also you cant overcome anything happening in your sub conscience, because YOU WONT EVEN KNOW ITS THERE.

sorry but your post was just....wrong.
Okay, it's instinct to dislike others because they're different, it's part of the whole survival of the fittest thing, reject the outsiders. Does everyone on the planet go out and kill people of different race because of this? Yes some people do, but the majority of us don't, and even more of us aren't threatened by the fact that there are people on this Earth that are different. Thus you can overcome instinct.

mine is diluted- and only against a few countries
one of my friends is moronic racist
and another is just plain racist
basically all my other friends are diluted racist like me

Whether you like it or not, everyone makes prejudgments based on appearance, even if on a subconscious level. So I'm gonna go with a yes, everyone is a little racist.
