I've been reading IGN for years but recently the posted stories and topics are being stretched a little too much. One example being http://uk.comics.ign.com/articles/121/1215530p1.html

In this day and age I look to this site and Destructoid for my daily videogaming fix as it seems IGN are just posting for views.

What is everyone else's view on the site?

First, never start with anything along the lines of "is it just me.." because it is never just you

Second, ever since call of duty: Mw2 came out, IGN have done nothing but look for games to compare to it. I like call of duty, but not the way they do. And no, I am not a cynic who spends his days in LoL all day or only plays indie games. I truly have nothing against them but I just don't care for them.

I still, usually, read reviews on IGN before buying a game. So far, they've mostly been spot on with their game ratings.
They don't seem to be afraid of pointing out flaws and broken features in games, unlike certain other websites and magazines that dare not bash a game in fear of losing sponsorships or advertisement money.

I don't think IGN has ever been "good" at writing, their only good original content is from freelance journalists (usually Australian too), and their reviews are very bland. But they are at least better than Gamespot's. I guess they post more sensationalist stuff for clicks than they used to though. But they have always been one of the best when it comes to the latest news. They rarely miss a game or any new reveals on it. I used to use them all the time, but when I started branching out to other sites I realised how crap their writing was, but it's not a totally useless website. Probably the worst thing about the site is the community on there. My god, if you look at the comments section on any article, be prepared to read the "words" of the absolute worst kind of people.

Nah. They haven't lost their touch. They are still as retarded as they ever were. I heard a lovely comparison somewhere how IGN is like Fox News of gaming. And I agree.

There are some who would argue that IGN never had the touch to begin with.

I'm not sure myself, seeing as how I stopped visiting the site a long time ago. They seemed to be decent back in the N64 days (I was a pre-teen in those days though, so I could be wrong about that), but I have no idea now.

IGN get paid for reviews and articles from games companies. I wouldn't believe anything they say if I were you.

You can't spell ignorant without IGN.

My apologies Captain Lexis ;)

On a serious note I do like their reviews, I don't think they are up to scratch on news at all however. When Humble Bundle 4 came out it took them 3 days to post any sort of news item on it for example.

I've always thought they're the video game equivalent of Jonathan Ross. They praise most things that come out but occasionally rape the odd game so their opinions seem valid. Not only that, but most of the shit I read or watch from them sounds like it was written by someone who doesn't even give a fuck what they're writing/saying.

IGN posts many of its articles for the sole purpose of in-sighting flame wars in its community. It is very rare I actually see anything intelligent on their website, whether its from a writer or a community member.

This. IGN has always sucked, and probably will always suck.

Just a quick look in their comments section shows you what a bunch of morons IGN caters too. Terrible stuff.
