I resist as much as possible, but often if they're about to do something that will screw them over then I try to intervene.

Rarely do I ever shout constant commands though.

None of my mates ever play super street fighter at mine anymore simply because I can't stand them making mistakes. "Ok do neck breaker!" "how?" "ahhh like this!" "ok I'll try" "no your still doing it wrong!"

On other types of games though I'm usually not to bad and only give them helpful tips e.g. There is a good sniping spot over there.

"Really? You're gonna go that way?"
Yep- that's me exactly, as well.
It annoys me AND my friends, but I just keep doing it. Bah..

Oftentimes my advice is asked for. I'm actually starting to get a reputation for being a good helper: A friend of mine who I'm going too will tell me about this goddamned level he simply hasn't been able to beat for weeks, he tries it again, with me giving a few useful pointers, and suddenly he's beaten it.
Of course, it isn't always asked for, and it can piss people off, though some people are worse in this regard than others. Sometimes I need to tell my brother to back off and shut up, because his constant ordering me around is taking all the fun out of the game. I'm not very good at taking other peoples advice anyway.

Used to be, but then I grew tired of seeing people grow stronger on my knowledge... so now I just smirk as they die, and answer any questions as simply (Yet truthfully) as possible. And, boy, are there questions.

since i was a little kid i've really learned to not be hardcore at all, so i just let people play when they are playing, as its really annoying/dickheaded to tell someone what to do constantly, if they ask for my help ill be an audio walkthrough for them in small tidbits otherwise i let people play and i enjoy the moment of just watching them.

Many times, im getting better at holding it in now though unless im asked because I know just how annoying it is for the other person to be instructed like a 5 year old.

I've managed to change telling them what to do into giving tips.

That. I am the WORST back seat gamer at games I'm actually good at. I don't mind watching people play for example Fallout 3. But when it comes to Modern Warfare and such, I am the worst back seat gamer ever.

Best experience for me was noticing on a glance that my Dad was ONLY using engineers in Company of Heroes vanilla. I broke down crying in tears and then proceeded to instructing him in the art of building structures. Still makes me chuckle (yes I am a force of evil!)

One Xbox 360, one Gold Membership of Live, one copy of Left 4 Dead 2, one headsets connected to three other people with headsets...

That one spells itself out.

"This is a sniper, shoot that sniper and make sure he's dead. Shoot his corpse a few times. Good. That'll teach that darned cowardly scope-kisser."

Usually how my ones go on Tf2.

So do I, except I do it when they are going the right way, just to fuck with 'em.

Never in multiplayer, and rarely beyond reminding them what buttons do what. I'm very self concious, so I can imagine exactly what it must be like from their perspective.

In WoW, I don't yell tactics during raids; I just yell informative stuff like "Blazing Skeleton right" and "AAAAAH, DEFILE!!!!".
Of course, I dish out the criticism after the wipe.

Watching my friend play fallut 3 is just painful to watch. I have to step in a couple of times to drop some of the junk he carries around so he has enough room for an actual weapon.

Not much, but a friend and I sort of spot for each other whilst playing MW2. Rather than specific instructions, we just give random shouts of 'the window!' 'behind the car!' 'in the plane!' etc... It helps.

I don't explicitly tell anyone what to do, but I'm prone to criticizing them if I think they're about to mess up. "Oooh, you SURE you want to head down that hallway? I really don't think you should head down that hallway..."
