So the opening weekend box-office predictions have been unveiled and pre-release ticket sales tracking suggests that it is expected to make $175-180 million domestically, though many industry insiders and rival studio execs are predicting in and around $200 million. For the sake of comparison (and no need to start trolling anyone) Dawn of Justice opened up last month with a $171 million weekend while the previous two Captain America movies opened with weekends of $65.1 and $95 million. If it does manage to open at over $200 million it would be just the fourth movie to ever do so, joining Jurassic World, Star Wars Ep VII, and The Avengers.

So where are you placing your bet on the over/under?

What did Man of Steel make during its opening weekend?

116 million. So probably a bit more than that. 120 million - 130 million is my guess.
Interesting that the first two replies are polar opposites. Though if you average out 7 trillion bajillion and 120 million it's still pretty darn high.

A lot of people saw Dawn of Justice cause they wanted to see if it was any good for DC's own cinematic universe...then it became to see the trainwreck. Also, as Ive said before, the new Captain America is an Avengers Movie under a different name. A lot of people are going to go for that, for Spider-Man, for the other characters...and cause the Captain America focused movies tend to be the better ones.

I don't really care for predicting specific money numbers...since I don't really care, but I will go with over 200 mill.

Less of an Avengers movie and more Captain America guest starring the Avengers. Pretty much anyone who's seen it has said that it is very much Steve's movie.

You mean the guy who usually is the leader of the Avengers? I suppose New Avengers is the better title with Wanda, Falcon, and Spider-Man (though I assume hes going to be against him for this).

Yeah, I would have to say that Cap's team we see is less "Avengers" and more "Steve's buddies". Bucky and Falcon are there 100% for him, and from the commercials it seems that Ant-Man is just a huge Cap fan, and not an Avenger anyways. The closest you have are Hawkeye, who is done with the government, and Scarlet Witch, who seems to be following Clint's moral compass due to the end of AoU, not to mention how much the governments of the world would probably love to weaponize her.
