Man Spends Six Months Plotting Murder Of Counter-Strike Rival

Man Spends Six Months Plotting Murder Of Counter-Strike RivalA Counter-Strike player in France has spent six months plotting a revenge attack against a man who beat him in an in-game knife fight. His eventual revenge was not in-game.

20 year-old Julien Barreaux, from Cambrai, had his Counter-Strike character "knifed" in a game late last year against another man, known only as "Mikhael". Enraged at this blight against his talents, Barreaux spent six months tracking him down in the real world.

When he eventually found the victim, Barreaux knocked on the guy's front door, then "plunged a kitchen knife into his chest" when Mikhael opened it to greet him. He missed his heart by an inch.

A local police officer told the courts "Barreaux was arrested within the hour and told us he had wanted to see his rival wiped out for killing off his character."

The judge, who locked him up for two years on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm, says of Barreaux, "You are a menace to society. I am frankly terrified of the disproportionate reaction you could have if someone looked at you the wrong way in the street."

He almost tried to kill someone. I think they should lock him up for at least 10 years. What do you think?

Cheers, Amnestic.

The Judge's statement is absolutely spot on. Frankly, I'm appalled that someone went that far over a game of Counter-Strike.

10 years? He shouldnt be let out till his mind is healthy enough. If that can never happen, he should never be let out.

He didn't almost try to kill someone, he tried to kill someone.

OT: Fuck people like this. Fuck them right in the ass with large, hairy, sweaty prison rape.

He should be killed. Get all the blight out of this world and then maybe people won't be afraid to open their fucking doors.

Short of that, put him in jail for life.

You know, after all the nasty stories we've been hearing lately about people killing or trying to kill other people over video games, I'm starting to wonder if there ISN'T some connection between games and violence?

Maybe it isn't the games' fault, maybe it's just that a larger proportion of gamers are already juvenile, deluded, self-important fucktards with severe sociopathic tendancies?

That guy should never be allowed to roam free again. It's not fair to law-abiding citizens that someone who attempts murder over a video game is let out of jail after only 2 years.

He should have the full penalty for attempt at murder, which can be anything from ten years to life. People who try to kill someone should be locked away for as long as possible, not two years and hope he gets better.

I'm glad that the judge wasn't demonizing games at the same time. He did the right thing, realizing that the person was screwed up before he played the game, not because of it.

2 years for almost killing someone over being killed in a video game? Wow that is just...amazing. This guy should be locked up for the rest of his life, but of course he gets to go free so he can do it again.

i would blame online multiplayer honestly.

video games tend to draw anti social crowds to it and when you put a bunch of over competitive ones together in the same room online...shit gets out of hand.

at least thats what i think happens with these kind of situations.

if all these people were playing just single player games there is no way in hell that'd be happening.
