Personally i'm a die hard marvel fan, i find it's protagonists to be much more interesting, while DC heros generally have ridiculous powers (see superman for details). I don't care much for DC, but i'm wondering what everyone else thinks?

Batman, his villains, John Constantine: Hellblazer, and Neil Gaiman's Sandman are the only things that make me read DC Comics on any occasion.

So, Marvel. They got every other cool superhero, and they have a very distinct lack of that asshole Superman.

So yeah. Marvel! EXCELSIOR!!!

Marvel always seemed better in my eyes. Also, you think Superman's bad look at Black Adam, granted I like Black Adam.

Ya, DC only has a few titles, but with things like Amazons attack such reads are few and far between

If you're talking about just power, look at The Sentry. He was able to fight The Hulk (The new Hulk, who crushed Iron Man and broke both Colussuss' arms) to a standstill. He might be more powerful than Nate Gray, and the people who made him have openly stated that there's nothing he can't do. Hell, Sentry could fucking crush Superman.

Of course, he is completely emotionally dependent on his wife, and he has about as much emotional fortitude as Cloud Strife (Cid: sissy boy Cloud: (tearfully) NO I'M NOT!). Add that to the fact that he has an alternate personality (or something, they're never really clear about that) called The Void that counteracts everything he does, and you've got one fucked up superhero.

Which is exactly why I like him.

Apologies to the DC fans.

I like both companies and have favorites on both sides. However, as of late it feels like DC is slipping. I preferred the "civil war" nonsense over the "reality is breaking apart at the seams" nonsense.

Yes, I recognize that was ages ago I'm just putting up an example. Also, when they go off on a tangent, Marvel does stuff like "Marvel: 1602" whereas DC does stuff like "Superman and Batman vs Alien and Predator".

Well under DC comes Vertigo, so it's DC all the way with me.

DC do need to stop having Crises.

I agree with the idea that Marvel comes across as less serious than DC. Even though it was a while back, look at the Black Mask/Spolier fight in War Games. That's some really nasty stuff.

The Civil War was good but I enjoyed the Watchmen more. Gonna throw in my lot with DC.

DC. Alan Moore's writing is awesome.
Also, I think there should be a mention of Dark Horse in the poll... just my opinion.

for me it was always marvel, they consistently have better stories and such, dc can have some good ones from time to time but it's really hit and miss and it's mostly on their other imprints rather than the actual dc name

I think they have stopped, but I can't be sure. The only thing from DC that I still pick up is Justice League.

DARK HORSE... And I love cheese.

IMHO, Marvel trumps DC because of volume. I'd say that marvel has something like 1 good character for every thirty crap ones, but they have thousands of characters so they end up with three or four dozen good characters. DC only has a couple hundred characters, good or bad, and they still don't have more than 1 good one per dozen bad, so even though they have less crap per winner, it's still overshadowed by Marvel's hordes.

Also, Marvel has Deadpool... InstaWin.
Agreed. Although the whole point of the New Avengers is to introduce a whole new team of super heroes every other issue. MVP for instance... who is but isn't a superhero at the same time. If I say anymore it would require a spoiler.

---

Although one of my favorite comics of all time is the name of this poll. Back in the 90s they actually had a Marvel VS DC comic, though only 3 issues. It was amusing. The Amalgam that happened afterwards is less memorable.

Just to note about Watchmen though, it doesn't take place in their DC universe, only published by them. That makes me not even really consider it DC. Much in the same way that a lot of games are being published by EA or Activision but the publisher doesn't really influence creation. Aside of course from throwing varying sums of money at the creators for every milestone they achieve.

DC over Marvel for me as well. I'm personally a huge Batman fan, so that locks up the deal.
