Poll: Most Useless Final Fantasy character

I found Gau from Final Fantasy VI really useless. I didn't use him unless forced, because he was too much of a pain to use.

Cait Sith! Sure, he can technically one-hit even Emerald Weapon with the proper tweaking, but it's just not worth it because he's freakin' Cait Sith!

Quina was really useless. {S}he never seemed to have enough MP to use the good blue magic and his/her attacks were terrible. But Cait Sith was even worse, so he gets my vote.

Rikku wasn't bad. I got her ultimate weapon pretty early so she was generally better than most of my other party members for a while. Her overdrive was also very useful assuming you had the necessary items for what you wanted to do.

I thought Umaro from VI was pretty useless. He can only equip two pieces of equipment and you can't specifically control his actions in battle, also as a Yeti he has no importance to the story.

From the short time I remember playing FFXII, I do seem to remember Penelo being fairly useless. It made sense though- she wasn't a Sky Pirate or a princess-turned-freedom-fighter, she wasn't even a street thief with dreams and an old sword, she was some random peasant girl doing oddjobs for a chef. It really would have been quite odd if she was a master of the finer points of summoning magic...

Quina, if you do bother to get the blue magic, can be very powerful, as someone's alluded to in this thread.

That and Quina is not really any more pointless that Amarant, Freya and Eiko. I mean sure, those three are automatically not worthless unlike the Blue Magic that requires some effort and possibly grinding to build up, but there's really not much point in using them either.
Eiko is just another Summoner but is less useful as a White Mage, while Amarant and Freya are just two extra melee guys with some mild magic gimmicks that are never worth switching out the Steiner-Vivi team.

Funny that 3 out of 4 of the the characters you picked are from games with completely customizable skill system. I guess there might be some base stat differences, but honestly, all the characters in VII, X or XII are just as useless as you make them (although I suppose FFX kinda pushes you to keep Rikku on the Fragile Speedster path).

I see what you mean but let me explain myself. cait Sith is just a horrible character and equipping him with Magic summons when more powerful characters are present is to me a waste.

Penelope while yea you CAN equip her with anything she simply is just weaker in all categories compared to every other character at the same level. Give her a sword but her attack is half of Vaan, Bathier etcc, give her a bow and her speed is to incredibly low. make hert a spellcaster and find that she has to go to a fight to the deah with a wolf that you find at the beginnning of the game.

For Rikku it is similar to the Quina situation. Could be a valuable character but its too much work.

actually i found all of them to be useful in the game . the only truly bollocks character in the final fantsy series is the rich guy in final fantasy 6 with the slot machines for attack. every one else in the series you can find some use for( even it it means meat shield or defense builder)

I don't know who Penelope is...so I can't count her at all...I didn't care much for Rikku and can't remember her role in the plot of X but she wasn't Yuna so, she doesn't get sweet, sweet Titus flesh and therefore, doesn't really matter. Quina is a Blue Mage which I found really useful. S/He loses points though for not letting us know it's gender. Cait Sith wasn't central to the plot of FFVII but, was relatively important I think...aw crap, I should have chosen Sith >.<

Tifa. Even though you can give her all the materia you want she always reeks of futility.

I made the mistake of not using Tifa throughout the game. She becomes one of the most powerful characters when maxed out, and her limit breaks stack, instead of only doing one.

Quina. Not only was he/she worthless, but he/she was the death of blue magic. My first experience with blue magic was VIII, and it was awesome. Then I played VII and got to use the eney skill materia, and that was awesome. And then I played IX and I had Quina, and blue magic was worthless. Didn't do hardly anything.

Rikku might have been kinda annoying but wasn't she capable of stealing and had some sort of bonus against machines?

Khimarhi or however you spell it, the cat-unicorn guy who didn't talk much, I only used him during that forced fight against the other two Ronso.

Rikku shouldnt be on the list, and I think Quina was more annoying than useless. Personally I found Kimahri from X the most useless.

I loved using Rikku. Infact she was usally in my top line up or always on 1st sub. Mechs and elements had nothing on her. Useful item theif too, made some awesome shit because of her.

Also, not on the list, but Kimari from FFX. He looked big and hard, he was shite.

I think it has to be either Edward or Setzer. Both were valuable to the story, but Edward was worthless in fights and I don't like anyone whose major skill is a crap shoot...
