As soon as you mentioned rythm with wiimote I panicked, well seems to me it's worth to experience the wii one.
The game is well worth it regardless of platform. While I have seen the Wii port described as a shoddy one - not without merit, since it does have issues, and it's up to personal preference as to how major those issues are - the fact remains that it is a port of a magnificent game. The Wii has (my opinion, I've seen the opposite expressed) better controls for drawing, although the PS2 controls are by all accounts passable, and greatly inferior combat, which you won't notice if you stick to the beads, but it is there and can detract from the game.

Pretty much how I get with some games.
From some of the other people that have commented, Wii isn't bad if you don't mind a few quirks with the motion controls. PS2 isn't bad if you don't mind some sharpness loss and a slightly clunkier way of drawing out the symbols.

Whichever version you get, expect ridiculous load times in between even the tiniest transitions.

And the game looks great, but not as great as you think when you get up close and realize almost every object in the game world is a one-dimensional rotating drawing (aside from people and enemies, obviously). Personally, I think Okami is overrated. Not BAD, but not amazing either. There's loads of dialogue, but so much of it is completely redundant and not particularly well-written. Combat is simple, the gameplay starts to feel padded all to crap later on and some boss fights (all boss fights) repeat way too many times, like the devs just ran out of original ideas halfway through and started pulling level designs (especially the last level) out of their butts and copypasted enemies and bosses from old levels to fill things out.

Still, not a bad game.

Have you by any chance played zelda? If so, do you see any similarities in the negative points you just gave out?

Ps2 Brauh both versions look pretty much the same but I imagine the Wii controls would get old fast.
Actually, no they don't. I have indeed played both versions (I love the damn game) and the Wii controls can be much faster and more instinctive once you figure out to hold the button that allows you to draw a straight line. It makes things like the Power Slash, the Cherry Bomb and the goddamn Blockhead assholes much easier to do.

But, if you go for the Wii, only use rosary weapons. Every other weapon is difficult because they require quite harsh timing.

bar making mirror weapons really hard to use the wii version is the better pick. it's easy to use the brush and combat never gets tiring, also you can skip cutscenes which is good because some are pretty long. like I said the wii versions only problem is that it's hard to combo with a mirror, rosaries are easy and glaivs take a knack but that's quick to pick up. Well worth getting either way.

I onl;y ever played the Wii version of Okami and it was great. The combat was a bit annoying because you have to time the attacks with your motions but you can just equip the beads which sorts that right out. The paintbrush things worked really well though, it takes geting used to but soon you'll be cutting up monsters with a giant painted slash attack while jumping and whipping them with Amerterasu.

Honestly though the game's visuals on both are great, the pacing and story and charceters are going to be the same on both. Which ever you go for will be great.

I've been fed the mantra "Okami on Wii sucks" from my friends who have played it. I guess that's opinion though.

But I say the PS2, cos you'll get it cheaper.
Actually you're wrong. I see Okami going for about £15-20 used here, but the older PS2 version tends to go for around £20-25.

I actually own both versions. The Wii version is slightly better looking, but the motion controls are a bit fiddly at times, so I guess I prefer the PS2 version. And I bet you can find the PS2 version for cheaper. Both are great games though, so it's up to you which control scheme you prefer.

I've never played it on Wii, so I don't know how well the controls were ported, but I can vouch for PS3 being awesome. Some people say the drawing mechanism was tough on the PS3, but the game pauses while you paint, so it's not like it matters.

Either way, if you haven't played Okami - you are in for an absolute fucking treat.
Um...Would that be the imaginary version that was released on PS3? Or did you just play the PS2 version on PS3?

Oh, sure. Except the dialogue and hardware limitation thing is pretty much entirely on Okami. But yeah, I don't consider Zelda games immune to criticism or anything. Also, while Okami feels a lot like OoT (especially with regard to pacing and gameplay structure), the game is about a million times longer, so it's only natural things start repeating. I'd much rather see the repetitive content and talking cut, but that's just me.

Well, it's been mostly repeated but the PS2. The Wii's controls were a struggle as far as combat goes (though the painting was pretty good), and the Wii doesn't have the great credits sequence.

If only i knew what your talking about, and this is pretty much a VS thread, given that we only have 2 choices and whichever one we choose we get yelled at by some 30 year old in his mothers basement.

Its a lose lose.

34 of these votes belong to morons/fanboys

its like saying the ps2 port of RE4 was better than the original GCN or the Wii port, only advantage ps2 has is extra content, but wii has the same and more

okami wii has the same and more, dont be stupid.

What a polite and forward way to act like a tool. Yes, I meant PS2.

Uhhh... did you even read the thread?

Well done there, you completely missed the point of the Poll. The OP is asking whether he should buy a specific game on one of two consoles, not which console to buy. I can only assume that you just skipped the actual "reading" part of posting in a thread and went straight onto the typing based on the words "Wii or PS2".

OT : Wii. The controls are better, it looks much nicer and the game was given an overhaul.
Well, SORRY that i did not know what okami was.
There's no need to be so sarcastic, if you didn't know what Okami was, why did you just randomly select the two consoles and pick the better one?

Seriously, why post in a topic you don't understand, unless you're porting that you don't understand. I'm actually curious by the way, so don't take it as an insult, but why did you just post that the PS2 was better than the Wii if you didn't know what the thread was about?

Oh and, Google/Wikipedia can be helpful if you want to know what something.

Although, if you'd never heard of Okami but posted anyway it just sounds like someone posting for the sake of getting a post, backed up by the double post you did to explain your reasons. You can edit your posts after they've been posted, next to reply and quote on your own posts.

You're new so I'm sorry if I come off as harsh, this is just unusual.
