This is an opinion thread about 3 sections of this great series so far.

1. Characters
2. Visuals
3. Tasks/missions

L4D2.
I don't really give a shit about the characters, but the new tasks and added weapons made it superior in every possible way.

Left 4 Dead one had a much better cast and I was glad there were only four infected. It's not so much that I hate the new ones, I just liked it when the job was just left to four (five?). That doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt to put the melee weapons in it and the other advanced guns. Hell, that'd be amazing.

I like the characters in L4D better than 2 because all of them have distinct personalities and back stories easily determinable just by their dialogue and attire as opposed to just Nick and Ellis. But the visuals and overall game if 2 was more enjoyable to me because it felt like valve actually put a lot of effort into making it familiar yet different. Do wish I could still see my own feet though.

I voted 1-2 L4D 2

I think the characters in L4D2 were all around better, but I feel that some of the levels added new visuals to the zombie genre, such as the hurricane level, that seriously was not a good level to play at 12 am in a thunderstorm. I couldn't see crap and they kept coming and coming! As for the tasks, I felt L4D was the basic bait, but L4D 2 had a better Lure to the ending missions and even the mid missions.

I give L4D two thumbs up for getting me into this genre, but I give two thumbs up and two big toe ups towards L4D 2 for making an all around better game as a sequel.

The characters are not interesting in my opinion.
Though, In L4D2 I rather be Coach and in Left 4 Dead 1 I rather be ...uhm...that girl...Forgot her name.
Visuals...Not much of a difference? Never looked at that.
And All the missions and stuff is the same pretty much.

I find those 2 games getting boring. I haven't played that much but it's too few of the same.

You guys can say "but online everything gets better *rainbow*"
No it doesn't. With friends its fun sometimes but online with strangers they mostly...ruin my gameplay and time a LOT.

Glad I have never played full price for that >.<

But anyhow, the best would be L4D2 mostly because of the Melee weapons.
...
Actually...Only because of the melee weapons. ^_^

well, L4D has an awesome, awesome relly well done atmosphere of apocalypse, but L4D2 just feels bigger (talking about the vanilla one, with the original 5 campaigns) you know, from a city to a state fair, to a swamp, to a town, to another city

besides, Ellis

your 3rd option falls short on it's ass, Pokemon is violent as shit dude

Well, since I never cared for the L4D-games I choosed the Pokémon-alternative.

L4D. They tried to make L4D2 too big, it feels less like the zombie movie that it's supposed to, and the newer special infected feel a bit tacked on and unbalanced.

I honestly have to say I'm one that prefers Left 4 Dead 2, as to me it seemed like most of Left 4 Dead was spent in the same copy-and-paste warehouse. You even have to go through a warehouse in the woods.

I like both, but L4D2 amuses me slightly more. Taking a sword to the zombie hoard is both entertaining and surprisingly effective.

Change your last option, thats highly immature and kind of offensive.

On topic: Left 4 Dead 2, even though I love both.

I liked the L4D cast a lot better even though I love ELIS. I like the new special infected, but only in certain situations. A lot of situations I'd rather just be a hunter, so I vote L4D wins that too. Tasks / missions L4D2 wins because they force you to run instead of camping.

They're both solid games but I'd have to say L4D was slightly better than L4D2.

I enjoyed the gameplay of 2 more because it's cleaner and has more stuff, but everything else was better in the first one. So I'll have to go with that. If I had to pick one and delete the other forever (if there was no DLC), I would go with the first.
