I have enough for one or the other, and both had really good demos.

I hear Outland has Metroid-ish elements that the demo didn't show, which I love. But BG&E seems longer and with more gameplay variety.

This is really a win-win choice here between vastly different games. But which is MORE betterer?

They even have identical metacritic scores!

You already know my opinion - easily Outland. It looks good, the controls are sharp, it's right up your alley. BG&E - I don't know if you would enjoy that.

Well BG&E is a great game but I never played Outland so I couldn't give you proper advice.

BG&E is more for story and it has a pretty great system. You're never the big badass, you're usually just trying to get through the bad situations you're ending up in. You're a little hero like Wander in Shadow of the Colossus.

Download the DEMO of each, then decide yourself!!!!!

That's why XBLA is so great!

Or are you not using an 360?

PSN has demos, too, ya know. Just not for EVERYTHING, sadly.

Seriously. Even Metacritic has identical 84 scores for both.

Toss a coin.

Heads for Outland.
Tails for Beyond Good and Evil.

I loved Beyond Good and Evil, for the record. Haven't played Outland. Or heard of it really. Should probably check it out.

Whoa, the new avatar threw me off.

I loved Beyond Good and Evil, though I don't know if you would. The gameplay is very simplistic. Searching for creatures to take photos of is oddly enjoyable. The soundtrack is fantastic.

I can't give an opinion on Outland. It looks like it could be good. Susan Arendt loved it. I don't really play any side scrollers these days. If I were to try one from the last three or four years, it would probably be Outland.
