Poll: Pokemon Champions: The Best Theme

So, in my quest to bring more content to the Escapist forums, I come with my next topic, this time in Gaming (and moving away, for now, from the anime boobs).

And the topic this time;

Who has the best Champion Theme in Pokemon? Of all the regions and Champions, who has the best theme?

They all are pretty awesome, especially when they match the vibe of the champions themselves. While Alder's and Iris's may not be my favorites, they totally match their personalities, even though I have a hard time explaining how.

For my choice, it would be Cynthia's. It's intense, bizarre, and all around cool.

I have a soft spot for Iris's theme, actually.

Which I don't remember a lot of people really liking. But it competes with Lance's for my favorite.

He's not a Champion, but no other trainer can match the music when you fight Wally at the end of Victory Road in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.

Hold on, that ain't the Pokemon Red/Blue final battle music. I still vividly remember when some... 16ish years ago? Whenever those came out. Anyway I still remember beating that game pretty well and that ain't the music that plays.

Which I guess would be my favourite but considering I haven't actually played any other Pokemon games means it's kinda unfair for me to vote. Also why is it called 'vs. Blue', by default the rival was always named Gary or, in my case, Butt or something similarly stupid.

A lot of these tracks were remixes in some form. Anywho, honestly the LeafGreen/FireRed and HeartGold/SoulSilver remixes are better than the originals because, well, obvious reasons are obvious. I'm not fond of the Black/White remix of the Kanto Champion theme, which is what is in the OP. Never liked the Hoenn themes to be honest, found that most of its soundtrack was lackluster compared to other generations. I found the Alder's theme instantly forgettable, and Iris' theme merely okay. I had never heard Diantha's before now - its alright, better than Unova and Hoenn themes, right in the middle of them all.

Anywho, I'd have to say that it goes to Lance's theme, and after that Cynthia. While Cynthia's theme probably stands out more than the others I think Lance's is just plain better.

I think we should have more threads about favourite themes from games. Unfortunately some franchises are a bit too obscure. For example, I've always been a fan of the Advance Wars franchise and the fact that they give all the different COs their own unique, generally distinct theme which is something that really set the series apart from other games, but not enough have played it to make a thread out of it. All of them are the official latest version of that Champion's theme. Blue/Lance are from the Pokemon World Championships (BW2), Steven/Wallace from OR/AS, Cynthia from Pokemon World Championships/BW2, Alder from BW1, Iris from BW2 and Diantha from X/Y.

I have to say Blue for this one. While I like the themes of the previous champions, they seem to be more about them(makes sense, it is their themes), but I think with Blue, his theme seem to include you as well since out of all the champions, he was the only with a more personal kind of relationship with you throughout the game as being the one always a step ahead of you, and his theme is really emotionally charged because it really sums how far both of you have come and are trying to prove something to each other, like there is something at stake here between you two.

Plus the Origins OVA's remix of said theme is one of the best remixes I've heard ever.

technically since N replaces the champion battle at the end of black and white that counts right? cause the N theme is badass.

Steven's theme from Emerald followed by N's theme from Black/White and Cynthia's OG theme from Diamond/Pearl... Alder and Diantha's theme comes as an honorable mention for me and I never liked Iris to even hear her theme properly, so it's the only theme I can't comment on even if I could...

Other than that, I'm indifferent to the OG Red/Blue and Gold/Silver themes in general... Never heard them in full context, anyway...

Oof. Really close toss-up between Cynthia and Lance, honestly. Cynthia for sounding both awesome and very, very appropriately scary, Lance for just sounding badass.

Think I'll go with Lance, just 'cause he's behind at the moment.

Before Gen 6, I would have said Lance, hands down.

To be honest though I really like Diantha's theme. I'm not sure why but it got me so pumped for the final fight and was in my head for days later. Don't get me wrong, I don't really care for her as a Champion, but her theme is awesome.

I can't pick between her and Lance, but Cynthia is right behind them. The others are nice too (except Alder's, which is quite clearly the worst of the lot).

Definitely Diantha for me, it sounds really majestic and 'floaty' if you get what I mean. It suits the character and the game down to a tee. The music for X/Y in general was just really damn good.

Alder's is terrible, it's really quite dull and could just as easily be for a regular Gym Leader.

I think that may be why Alder's may seem kinda lame to most people. His champion battle is just a post game activity, while N and Ghetsis were the true final battles. Maybe Gamefreak didn't think to make Alder's theme good a priority. Which is kinda sad, I really like Alder as a character, but his battle and theme are overshadowed by most other champions.

However, since N wanted to have the Pokemon league abolished, I doubt he would want to be considered a champion. He just wanted to show he could beat a champion, rather than becoming one.
