Lots of goodies from this - starters were kinda expected but will probably be the most talked about. Of course, for a lot of people they'll wait until the third stage evolutions are revealed until they choose their starter, but since the cover legendaries were also revealed, they can be included in the discussion.

My choice? Rowlet. Owl just happens to be my spirit animal, plus I've been waiting for a flying-type starter that isn't Charizard for ages. Now that I think about it, I've always chosen the bird if I could (I chose Torchic and Piplup in previous games). Finally, I'm currently at a 1/2/2 split with starter types, and if I went with grass once more it'll balance things out perfectly.

As for which version, as much as I like to Praise the Sun, I'm going with Moon. I decided to go with Moon even before this trailer launched because I always went with "the other one", as in Pearl, SoulSilver, White/2, Alpha Sapphire (the version that's always listed second). And it looks like I lucked out because I think bats are way more cooler than lions.

Sun + Litten. Cats and cats. Obviously.

The owl one is cute, though it looks like it's wearing a bra, but I can't say no to a cat, and I generally go with the Fire starter anyway. (Except for Gen 1, Squirtle all the way).

With this and the new Fire Emblem (which is still not out yet in UK), I'm glad I'll be getting some use out of my 3DS. It's been too long.

This might be one of the very few times that I've been heavily inclined to pick a Grass-type starter.

Rowlet just looks leagues better and cuter than the other two. But I can still sort of see myself going Litten for the utility.

But the Water starter? Yeesh. Not sure what happened there. Looks just ok at best to me, and terrible at worst. Maybe the evolutions will look better...hopefully.

I'm hoping Rowlet has decent evolved forms, cause I like owls. No way I'm taking that stupid seal though.

As for which version, I like the Lion better, since the Bat looks stupid and over designed. But my history usually has me getting the blue game. Blue, Silver, Sapphire, X... (Only had Platinum from Gen 4, and White, but I don't know which is "blue" of those two, between Black and White that is)

I think I'll probably end up going for Moon since the bat looks pretty neat. Not sure though, might make my mind up a bit closer to the release.

No such question about the starter though, there's a tiny grass owl! That's pretty much the best thing ever in my books, although I think all 3 starters are kind of cute so I daresay I'll be replaying the games with each starter at some point. But yeah, tiny owl! Love it!

Litten and Moon, mostly because I've been waiting for a feline starter. Rowlet is downright memetic though

Dunno about which game, but Popplio is adorable.

Whether I go Hyper Lion or Mega Bat, I dunno. The whole Lion/Sun seems kinda generic, while the Bat looks awkward in motion.

I'm going for Moon without a doubt... no idea which starter though. They're all shit looking at their first form, so I'll make a decision once I see their final forms.

I'm going for moon cos my Pokemon fan mate is choosing sun. It really depends on which versions has the cooler looking exclusive.

As for the starter. I leaning toward Rowlet and Litten. I really hoping Rowlet have a cool form (Rowlet look more unquie since excluding Hoot Hoot, there has been several feline and a few sealion now) but since it's a grass type (several weaknesses) it could be safer picking Litten. Litten look like it would have a cool evolution form like Greninja/ Froakie.

Popplio look like it should of evolved into Samurott. Would that mean it's final form will be biped like how Osawatt was two leg and Samurott has 4 legs?

My exact line of thinking.

Helps that they are both fire (I guess the Sun legendary is fire, looks like it) and that's my favorite type. I never chose any starter other than fire, and now I'm finally getting a fire kitty starter.

Also, the game looks gorgeous. Really impressed by the visual upgrades. And I'm really glad trainer customization is back as well.

I'll go with Rowlett for Sun and Poplio for Moon. My reasoning being I remember watching the Kung Fu panda legends of Awesomeness and there was this owl character that was a kung fu master, considerably raising the respect I have for the animal that usually associated with wisdom alone; for Popplio I'm predicting it'll evolve into some sort of acrobat due to the possible circus theme.

I'll not be picking Litten at all, because in the eternal war of Cats v Dogs, I'm dogs all the way.

It's a hard choice really...My girlfriend and I both wanted Moon because we're gothy stereotypes but after watching the reveal I'm happy to take Sun because of the Celestial Lion Pokemon. As for the starter...I'mma do that cheat where I just start the game 6 times and trade for all three of them. If I absolutely had to chose one and only one, I'm really liking Rowlet. This is one of those few generations where I like all 3 starters so much that it was hard to finally settle on Rowlet (mainly for the unique typing...we've had Dark/Fire before (just a guess that Litten will wind up Dark/Fire) after all and it's too soon to see if Popplio will gain another type.)

I can't wait to see the other new Pokemon this game will have. Also the new Megas.

All of them and Both.

...Look there's like 19 3DS's in this household, it's going to happen.

(though if I have to pick then it's Rowlet, little bastard looks awesome. Plus Grass/Flying! Badass!)

Sun for sure, but the starter is a tougher choice. I always prefer to roll with the fire starter since it's one of my favorite types, but seeing as how the Sun legend is a fire type, I may not want two on my team. Great set of starters though. Popplio seems to be getting the most hate, so I may go with it. I will probably wait for the reveal of the second stages. I was going to go with Fennekin till I saw Braxien, and I switched to Froakie and never looked back!

Like you OP, I usually go with one of the versions, but I go with the first of the two. Red/Gold/Ruby/Diamond/Black/X/remakes, and I happen to prefer all those mascots naturally. This is no different since I prefer the Sun mascot. But who am I kidding, I will get the other version eventually.

I'm getting the Sun version. For a while now I've had this idea of a Digimon in my head. It's final evolution would be a bipedal lion with white armor. The fact that the legendary for Pokemon Sun is a white lion just makes me giddy!

As for my starter, I'm going to have to go with Litten, because I love cats.

Water all day everyday! Me gusta Popplio!

Other than that, I was going to buy both anyway, so...

Totally starting with a Rowlett: I almost always pick the Grass starter anyway, but that lil' bugger looks good enough to be a 1st or 2nd gen pokemon! The other two starters look wierd.

As for version, I'm not entirely sure yet tbh. I don't usually put Legendaries on my team anyway.

How come Rowlet get's its secondary type and signature move right off the bat? How come Popplio,my starter, and Litten don't get their secondary types and signature moves when you get them? Seems a bit unfair to me. Oh and it's not a seal it's a sea lion.
