Poll: Pokemon: X or Y? And why?

So, a new pair of Pokemon games has been released. And as per usual, each of the games has its own set of exclusive Pokemon and whatnot. Being a huge Pokemon fan (games and manga, not the anime) I've been planning on picking one of them up, and so I did a little research. Serebii put up a list of version exclusives, so I took a look at that, and... I'm stumped. Normally there are a couple of Pokemon that swing me toward one game or the other, but here, the Pokemon I want are pretty much split down the middle.

The Pokemon I want in X are: Mega Charizard X, Mega Mewtwo X, Starmie and Houndoom.

The Pokemon I want in Y are: Tyranitar, Heracross, Cloyster and Yveltal.

So basically, I'm split down the middle. Now, normally I'd just grab X and try and pick up the Pokemon Y dudes on Wonder Trade or GTS, but I doubt I'll find Yveltal there, and I really, truly hate Xerneas, it just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. By the same token, getting Pokemon Y will deny me Mega Charizard X and Mega Mewtwo X. It's quite a dilemna. So, I thought I'd turn here to see which version you guys got, and why you got it. Hopefully I'm overlooking some crucial issue here that'll clinch it for me.

So, yeah, which game did you get, and why?

I got X because the legendary is a Fairy type.

Also how can I pass up the awesomeness that is Mega Charizard X

I just flipped a coin at the store. Heads for X and tails for Y. Amused the store employees too I think.

I got X, because fairy deer. That said, I will be getting Y eventually, as well. Probably around Christmas. That way I can get all the mega evolution stones.

My sole reason on getting X is Clauncher/ Clawitzer which I'm glad that I had gotten X (that Pokemon is currently in my team). So yeah my reason doesn't really help you decide which versions to get. In saying so I do prefer X version of Charizard and Mewtwo.
The better question is do you intend to used Charizard and the legendrary or are you simple just gonna keep them store in the box in the sake of collection?
Besides when it come to getting the other version exclusive Pokemons, that's what GTS or trading is for.

Y. Because Wynaut?

[sub]Actually, Wynaut is available by breeding Wobbuffet in both versions, but then my double joke doesn't work.[/sub]

I'd say Y anyway, but that's only because it's what I picked, since I always get the "second game" out of the two.

X because Xerneas is really neat, though so is Yveltal, actually just get both if you love Pokemon enough. Either one will fill your life with Poke-fun, that's all you can ask for at the end of the day...

It basically comes down to this: which do you want more, Yveltal or the mega forms. That said, if you're willing to look for people online (there's a big trading community here and if push comes to shove 4chan/vp is pretty much a guaranteed trade) you can swap megastones for the opposing version ones very easily. As well as getting any non-legendary exclusives.

I have got X, despite preferring Mega Mewtwo Y, because of Xerneas mostly. And most of my friends were getting Y. I'll probably get Y sometime in the near future, though. I love the series far too much.

I got Y, Yveltal is cooler. and this was before they revealed the atrocious evolution of Spritzee, though Skrelp looked bad...though that was also before they revealed its evolution; a Poison/Dragon, it seemed less ridiculous in comparison to Clawtizer who appears to only have a giant claw for a cannon or something...

Sure there's the Safari, but meh.

Spoilers about mega stones.
apparently you can buy Charizardite at the Stone Shop in Luminose...doe he sell other megastones too? or does he just sell the opposite of the Kanto starter you choose? (and in the case of Charizard, the Stone that corresponds to your version)

I got X because that way I would get a Charizard that's a black dragon. Seriously, does it get more awesome than that? I think not.

I think I'm just going to get Pokemon X, I just saw the Pokemon Origins reveal and it looks to amazing to pass up. Thanks for all the advice guys! That said, I might end up getting Y at a later date anyway, depends on whether or not I hit a game drought in the next four months.

I was able to get both at a really good deal. I paid $88au ( as an introductory offer )only as an in for the both of them. Whereas EB Games wanted $60 for just one of them.
My reasoning behind this is that I knew I was going to buy the second version eventually and I have never seen a first party nintedo 3ds game this cheep before.

Ocarina of time 3d is what 2 years old now..
The price of 3ds games almost never drops in Australia.

I got X because of the rainbow stag pokemon. Then I ignored it because Gardevoir is so much cooler.
I don't think it really matters, there are many ways to trade pokemon and you should be able to grab all your favourites without any real problems.

My little Brother got Y so I got X just so we wouldn't miss any pokemon. I also like most of the X-exclusive mega evolutions more so than the Y ones

HAHAHAHA I feel your pain- fellow Aussie here. Where did you get the games? For that price, I might just grab both in one go. It's horrible how much things cost here, EB in particular is just awful.

I'm I the only one that likes Mega Charizard Y over its silly X counterpart? so much more badass.

Also Yveltal > Xerneas

I actually got EB to price match Big W and they didn't like it one bit, made it all the sweeter.
I'm not sure if Big W still has stock, I'd imagine at that price they'd be selling quick.

Honestly, with the 3DS being internet capable now it barely matters what game you choose anymore. IMO that's a good thing!

Pretty much the only big difference is charizard mega-evolving into fire/dragon (in X) instead of fire/flying. Given that he has to compete with an arguably superior Delphox and a vastly superior Speed Boost Blaziken, I pretty much ignored charizard. (That said, despite having mega-evolve stones, the gen 1 starters are all really lackluster - either shit movepools, shit stats, or both. And since you can only mega-evolve once per battle anyway, there are much better choices for it).

Almost any other pokemon is easy to get, even the "version exclusive" ones - just breed something uncommon, put it up for trade on the GTS and request the thing you want. I got literally everything I wanted just putting level 1 axew's up for trade.
