So this got released today, rather quietly. I for one have been looking forward to it all summer. It does all the expected GTA trappings pretty well, but the real pull for RCR is the intentionally 8-bit presentation and the many, many in-jokes planted in the game for gamers and pop-culturists alike. I'm having as much fun with the game's off-the-wall humor as I am with the actual game play. Certainly worth your 14.99 if any of the above statements have caught your attention.

Has anyone else played this yet? What do you think so far?

I've heard about this game recently. I was wondering if it was related to River City Ransom, but apparently, it's its own game.

I like open-world games, but I'm wondering about the challenge; I like hard games as well, so... how's the difficulty?

I've only played a few hours so far, so I can't really speak about the difficulty curve as of yet. In terms of where I'm at now, I'd say the challenge is comparable to GTA 3 or its spin offs (Vice City, etc).

I heard about this back before they said there'd be a PC version. I felt a bit put out as it was an indie game that I certainly would have wanted to try. Looks like it's coming to PC now afterall, but I'm not sure if I still want to play it.

It's not "coming" to PC, it's on Steam RIGHT NAOW! 10% off even!

OT: I'm playing it on Vita. It's amazing. I was worried it would control like ass (read: like old 2D GTAs), but the controls are great and precise. The game is funny as hell, it's a decent challenge without being frustrating.
Really cool ideas, really cool execution.
And you can be Jim Sterling and beat people to death with a mop. That helps, too.

Skipping it. I do not play nostalgic games. I see no point to them. I can just play the old games in some form.

The point is to still have the old style, but with modern gameplay mechanics. A older games have not aged well :)

OT: It looked interesting since i first heard about it (while ago now). Waiting for it to be released on xbox live :)

The game is already coded to detect and configure the 360 controller (you can even reassign the buttons), so I could see it getting an XBLA release if it does well on PC.

I haven't got a chance to play it yet but I'll be picking it up soon.
It does look interesting at least.

Ah, I see. Sorry, I'm not up to date with the XBLA release schedule, even though I actually own a 360, so I really don't have an excuse here. First I heard of RCR was the PC release.
