Pretty self explainitory question here.

I'm asking because my 6 yr old cousin is over and he's watching King of the Hill. I personally don't think he should be watching it, because there's stuff in there that he does not understand and shouldn't know about at his age. I'm not the one watching him, my mom is, but she's not in the room RIGHT this second and I'm not sure if I should make him change the channel or go get her to. He doesnt really listen to me, so telling him "(Name) you cant watch that, change the channel" wouldn't do much good coming from me. I'm not even sure which episode it is either. I'm concerned because it's more ADULT oriented normally, and I mean it is called ADULTswim for a reason.

So escapists, thoughts?

If he doesn't understand it, what is the problem? I think he just likes that it's a cartoon. I'm not too concerned that he cares about the plot. In the end, no one can tell you whether or not he should watch it. Best thing, watch it with him and ask him if he enjoyed it or what he doesn't like about it. Just be responsible about it.

If he doesn't understand it...does it matter if he sees it?

Anyway, I've watched some of King of the Hill. Hank actually promotes tolerance in most cases and isn't the worst character, fictional or otherwise, that your cousin could be watching. (Hank is a bit bigoted against homosexuals and the like, but eh.)

Adult Swim as a whole, though? Yeah, things like Super Jail should be kept very far away from children. So very far away...

King of the Hill is not by any stretch of the word vulgar. Honestly, almost every episode has some kind of moral to it. Other adult swim shows are less... acceptable. Also, I accidentally voted No when I meant yes, so add one to yes.

King of the Hill is actually a really good animated show. One of the best I'd say.

But at his age? Eh, depends on the kid I guess. As a whole, I wouldn't let them watch Adult Swim. But I'd probably let them watch King of the Hill. It really isn't that bad.

King of the Hill isn't really that bad, I'd say it's safe for 6 year olds to watch it, even though they probably won't even get most of it.
Pretty much everything else on Adult-Swim he shouldn't watch though.

The only problem I could see, is if he repeated something inappropriate else that he saw on the show to someone else because he did not know it was inappropriate.

How is showing them teletubbies better? Age-appropriate content is bullshit, pandering children with delusions and forcing them to accept reality later in life.

I always say it depends on the kid and if they're mature enough to handle the material. I was playing M rated games at 6, but my parents knew that I was emotionally mature to handle the violence and scary images (Resident Evil and Silent Hill), and to differentiate the fiction from reality. If the kid is emotionally mature enough, then sure, they can go right ahead.

No, a 6 year old (boy) should be playing with action figures and toy cars (making sound effects, of course) running around in circles, digging up worms in the back garden, chasing pigeons, kicking up piles of leaves, shouting and calling girls names, "Cos they're girls... EWwwwwwwww"

I don't know what 6 year old girls do, because I wasn't one.

Honestly, who needs TV when you're 6? YOU'RE 6 there's so much fun stuff you can do and get away with! Teach him magic tricks, play football with him, just do stuff outside! He's att he age where he should actually enjoy being there.

Best way to find out if his mom doesn't allow him to watch it, just say "quick, change the channel your mom is coming" and see how he reacts. If he panics then its obvious she doesn't allow him to watch it.

Yes on King of the Hill - That show is remarkably funny without being vulgar and it deals with some actual morals on most occasions.

Adult Swim? ... No. No way in hell. Robot Chicken and Super Jail are NOT kid appropriate lol

I think it's fine. It's not like there is a ridiculous amount of violence that might scare him or tons of dark undertones.

King of the hill, have no problem with it, it isn't the worst show out there and they don't really do anything vulgar in that show on a consistent basis.

Rest of Adult Swim, Yeah I'd have a problem with that seeing as most of the shows on AS is not appropriate on a very consistent basis and he shouldn't be watching it.
